Ky Son border district has 6 more products achieving 3-star OCOP at provincial level

(Baonghean.vn) - In early 2023, Ky Son border district had 6 more products meeting 3-star OCOP standards. These are valuable local specialties, associated with the traditions and long-standing cultural identities of the ethnic groups here.

According to Decision No. 156/QD-UBND dated January 17, 2023 of the People's Committee of Nghe An province on approving the results of evaluation and classification of products participating in the "One Commune One Product" Program of Nghe An province, phase 2 of 2022, Ky Son has 6 more 3-star OCOP products.

The 6 products recognized this time include: Shan Tuyet tea of ​​the Huoi Tu Organic Tea Production Agricultural Cooperative, located in Huoi Le village, Huoi Tu commune; Hau Que beef jerky of Bui Thi Que business household, block 5, Muong Xen town; Ky Son ginger essential oil and ginger powder of the Huong Son Agricultural and Handicraft Cooperative in Cau Tam village, Ta Ca commune; Muong Long black chicken of the Muong Long Agricultural and Community Tourism Cooperative, Muong Long commune; products of the Na Loi Brocade Cooperative (skirts, dresses, scarves, tablecloths) located in Na Loi village, Na Loi commune.

Previously, in November 2021, Na Loi Brocade Weaving Village, Na Loi Commune was recognized as a provincial-level craft village. Na Loi Commune has 6 villages, brocade weaving is mainly in Na Loi Village with 78/88 households participating. Na Loi people grow mulberry and raise silkworms to get silk to weave fabric.

The fact that brocade products such as skirts, scarves... of Na Loi people are recognized as 3-star OCOP has created more motivation for people to actively improve their skills, speed up production to meet product requirements and access business and trade to help increase income.

In Muong Long commune, black chickens are familiar pets of the local people. Currently, people not only raise them for family needs, but also turn them into quality, branded products. For example, Mr. Vu No Po in Muong Long 1 village invested 30 million VND to buy 50 local black chicken laying hens and 1 incubator to develop livestock farming. After a while, his flock of chickens increased from 300 - 700, at times up to more than 1,000, bringing in an income of 250 - 300 million VND/year.

In addition to Mr. Po's household, there are nearly 20 other households that also invest in raising black chickens and have established the Black Chicken Farmer Association with 15 participating households in 2020. By 2021, the Muong Long Commune Agricultural and Community Tourism Cooperative, with Mr. Lau Ba Tu as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director with 07 members, was established, with the goal of preserving the native black chicken breed and providing products for community tourism...

Thus, along with the fresh ginger product that has been assigned a geographical indication and recognized as a 3-star OCOP in 2020, Ky Son now has 7 3-star OCOP products, creating more joy and motivation for people to produce and do business in this remote border district.
