Quynh Luu district announced the end of African swine fever
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 18, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district (Nghe An) issued a decision to announce the end of African swine fever in Quynh Hung commune.
After 30 days since the announcement of African swine fever, no new outbreaks have occurred in Quynh Hung commune. Based on legal regulations, on the morning of April 18, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district issued a decision to declare the end of African swine fever in Quynh Hung commune and the threatened communes including: Quynh Ngoc, Quynh Ba, Quynh Hong, Quynh Dien and Quynh Tho.

Previously, on March 18, 2019, in Quynh Hung commune, an outbreak of African swine fever occurred at Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh's household in hamlet 11; the total number of pigs that had to be destroyed was 5 (including 1 sow and 4 pigs) with a total weight of 302 kg. On March 19, the District People's Committee issued a decision to announce African swine fever in Quynh Hung commune.

After Quynh My commune, Quynh Hung commune is the second locality in Quynh Luu district to announce the end of African swine fever. Thus, up to this point, Quynh Luu is the first district in Nghe An to be free of African swine fever. Activities of buying, selling, slaughtering, and using pork have returned to normal.

Mr. Dau Duc Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said that although the district has announced the end of the epidemic, African swine fever is developing very complicatedly and can reappear, so the district recommends that localities need to proactively take epidemic prevention measures; propagate to livestock households to clean barns, spray disinfectants, and sprinkle lime powder periodically.
Quynh Luu district will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to inspect and supervise the buying, selling and slaughtering of pigs at households to prevent African swine fever from reappearing in the area.
According to the latest review as of March 2019, the entire Quynh Luu district has 33 pig farms, 24 mixed farms; about 30 pig farms and mixed farms... Quynh Luu currently has more than 38,000 pigs; of which more than 5,570 sows, 21,121 pigs for meat and 11,123 sows.
