Hyundai upgrades the 2018 Sonata, increasing the price by $500.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata, with its redesigned exterior and added safety technology, will go on sale in the US later this summer starting at $22,000, a $500 increase from the previous model.
Previously, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata was introduced by the Korean automaker at the 2017 New York Auto Show. This D-segment sedan remains unchanged in size but has been redesigned with several details to create a sportier, more modern appearance. Hyundai announced that it will distribute the 2018 Sonata in the US later this summer with a starting price of $22,000 for the standard SE version, while the Limited 2.0T version will cost $32,450.

Compared to the previous version, the 2018 Sonata features a larger grille, angular fog lights and air intakes that emphasize its sporty character, and redesigned headlights. The 2.0 Turbo version of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is equipped with a diamond-pattern grille and LED daytime running lights. The alloy wheels have also been redesigned, with diameters of 17 or 18 inches, depending on the version.
At the rear, the LED taillight cluster has been redesigned with a three-Y graphic similar to that of a Lamborghini supercar, replacing the outdated circular LED lights of the previous version. The rear bumper has a sporty design combined with dual exhaust pipes on either side. These details contribute to a more impressive and sporty appearance for the car.

The cabin design remains largely unchanged from the current version, but the use of premium materials creates a more luxurious feel. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard on all 2018 Hyundai Sonata models. In the 2.0 Turbo version, the steering wheel is replaced with a flat-bottomed one, along with leather-upholstered front seats and a sportier design.

Premium convenience features such as a 360-degree camera, front and rear sensors, driving modes, electronic parking brake, power-adjustable sunshades, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, panoramic sunroof, heated seats, etc., are all available on the top-of-the-line 2018 Sonata.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged Theta T-GDI engine with a maximum power of 245 horsepower and a maximum torque of 353 Nm, paired with a completely new 8-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, there are two other turbocharged T-GDI gasoline engine options: a 1.6-liter engine producing 180 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, combined with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission, and a 2.0-liter Nu gasoline engine with a maximum power of 163 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Sonata is the second-best-selling sedan from the South Korean automaker, after the Elantra. According to plan, the 2018 Sonata models will be available at Hyundai dealerships in the US this summer.
