Hyundai upgrades Sonata 2018, price increases by 500 USD
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata, with improved design and added safety technology, will go on sale in the US later this summer with a starting price of $22,000, an increase of $500 over the previous version.
Previously, the 2018 Hyundai Sonata was introduced by the Korean car company at the 2017 New York Auto Show. This D-class sedan has not changed in size but has been adjusted in some details to create a sportier, more modern appearance. Hyundai said that it will distribute the 2018 Sonata in the US at the end of this summer with prices starting at $22,000 for the standard SE version, while the Limited 2.0T version costs $32,450.

Compared to the old version, the 2018 Sonata's grille design is larger, the fog lights and angular air vents emphasize the sporty element, and the new headlight cluster. The 2.0 Turbo version of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata is equipped with a diamond-shaped grille and LED daytime running lights. The alloy wheels are also redesigned with a diameter of 17 or 18 inches, depending on the version.
At the rear, the LED taillights are refreshed with a 3-Y graphic similar to a Lamborghini supercar, replacing the "rustic" LED circle of the old version. The rear bumper has a sporty design combined with dual exhaust pipes on both sides. These details contribute to making the car's appearance more impressive and sporty.

The cabin design has not changed much compared to the current version, but the use of high-quality materials creates a more luxurious feel than before. The entertainment system with a 7-inch touch screen is standard on all versions of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata. In the 2.0 Turbo version, the steering wheel is replaced with a flat-bottom type, along with leather-covered front seats and a sportier design.

High-end amenities such as 360-degree camera, front and rear sensors, driving modes, electronic handbrake, electric sunshades, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications, Panorama sunroof, seat heating... are all available on the highest-end version of the 2018 Sonata.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata uses a 2.0-liter Theta T-GDI turbocharged engine with a maximum capacity of 245 horsepower and a maximum torque of 353 Nm, combined with a completely new 8-speed automatic transmission. There are also 2 options: a 1.6-liter T-GDI turbocharged gasoline engine with a capacity of 180 horsepower and a torque of 265 Nm combined with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission and a 2.0-liter Nu gasoline engine with a maximum capacity of 163 horsepower combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Sonata is the Korean automaker’s second-best-selling sedan, after the Elantra. As planned, versions of the 2018 Sonata will be sold at Hyundai dealers in the US this summer.
