Manchester United had a fantastic start to the Premier League season, beating Bournemouth away from home. While Man Utd didn't play well in the first half, a momentary lapse in concentration from defender Simon Francis allowed Mata to score the opening goal in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Man Utd created more dangerous opportunities before Rooney and Ibrahimovic scored in the 59th and 64th minutes respectively. Ibrahimovic made his mark with a low, powerful long-range shot from 25 meters.
The home team managed to pull one back, making the score 1-3, thanks to Adam Smith. This was all Bournemouth could do despite pressing in the final minutes of the match. The excellent performance of goalkeeper David de Gea prevented the home team from scoring a second goal.
The victory at Bournemouth helped Man Utd overtake Hull, Man City, Swansea and West Brom to take the lead in the Premier League. Mourinho's team also have three points but have a better goal difference.
Ibrahimovic became the star of the show in his Premier League debut. His dangerousness was well-known, but the way he made his mark was unpredictable. The Swedish striker, famous for his powerful long-range shots, this time calmly slotted the ball low into the far corner.
The goal against Bournemouth helped Ibrahimovic maintain his impressive debut record. The 34-year-old has scored on his debut in Serie A, La Liga, Ligue 1, the Champions League, and now the Premier League.
