Responding to a reporter's question about the Russian Foreign Ministry's lack of comment on the US presidential election, Zakharova stated that this is a standard in Russia's foreign policy. Russia does not interfere in the electoral processes of other countries. "We respect the American people. That is their choice, not the choice of the Russian people."

When a reporter mentioned that Samantha Power, the US representative to the United Nations, had loudly called Russia's actions in Syria barbaric at the most recent Security Council meeting, Zakharova expressed disappointment that no one remembered, no one acknowledged, not even the UN Security Council or the US delegation there, that it was Russia that had proactively established a consultative council immediately after the bombing in Washington in 2001.

Responding to the statement in the latest Dutch report on the MH17 plane disaster, "We haven't seen the latest Russian reports, but we know they are not specific," a representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that it was not a momentary remark, but a deliberate accusation.

Zakharova found it "ridiculous" that popular organizations and websites always feature the familiar phrase "irrefutable evidence," and that Russia is the cause of all conflicts, from Ukraine and Syria to MH17.

“We believe that what the Netherlands has just announced is a biased view. And a crucial point is that all the evidence or basis of evidence presented is based on conclusions reached by Ukraine.” Ms. Zakharova also affirmed that Russia will remain silent and will not make any further statements.
