iPhone 15 price increases again after being discontinued by Apple
After being discontinued by Apple, the iPhone 15 suddenly increased in price in Vietnam, while purchasing power remained strong thanks to its attractive design and performance.
After launching the iPhone 17 series, Apple officially discontinued the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. However, these two models have become "hot items" in the Vietnamese market.
Currently, the iPhone 15 128GB version is listed at 15.8 million VND, an increase of 800,000 VND compared to the end of August. Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Plus 128GB also increased by 500,000 VND, to 18.8 million VND.
Major retail chains say the duo's purchasing power remains strong. One store predicts demand could increase further during the year-end shopping season, when consumers want to own an iPhone at a more affordable price point than the iPhone 17.
Despite being discontinued, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are still in abundant supply in Vietnam. However, because they are no longer being produced, color options are starting to decrease, leaving buyers with fewer options than before.
At another store, the price of iPhone 15 can increase by 1-2 million VND depending on the version, especially during the peak season at the end of the year when supply is gradually scarce.
In the price range under 20 million VND, iPhone 15 is considered an outstanding choice with a youthful design, Dynamic Island screen and quality dual camera cluster. This model also has brand advantages and high stability, making many users still choose it even though it has been released for more than a year.
The direct competitor of the iPhone 15 is currently the iPhone 16e - a newer model with the A18 chip, Apple Intelligence support and a more durable battery. However, Vietnamese users still prefer the iPhone 15 because of its reasonable price and more diverse colors.
According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 15 is the world's best-selling smartphone model in 2024, accounting for nearly half of sales in the US and China. In Vietnam, despite the production stoppage, purchasing power remains stable, showing the sustainable appeal of this product line in the mid-range premium segment.
