After Apple discontinued production, the iPhone 15 unexpectedly increased in price in Vietnam, while demand remained strong thanks to its attractive design and performance.

After launching the iPhone 17 series, Apple officially discontinued the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. However, these two models have become highly sought-after in the Vietnamese market.

Currently, the 128GB iPhone 15 is listed at 15.8 million VND, an increase of 800,000 VND compared to the end of August. Meanwhile, the 128GB iPhone 15 Plus has also increased by 500,000 VND, reaching 18.8 million VND.

Major retailers report that demand for the duo remains very stable. One store predicts that demand may even increase during the year-end shopping season, as consumers seek iPhones at a more accessible price point compared to the iPhone 17.

Despite being discontinued, the supply of iPhone 15 and 15 Plus in Vietnam remains abundant. However, due to the cessation of new production, the color options are starting to decrease, giving buyers fewer choices than before.

At another store, the price of the iPhone 15 can increase by 1-2 million VND depending on the version, especially during the peak season at the end of the year when supply becomes scarce.

In the price range under 20 million VND, the iPhone 15 is considered a standout choice with its youthful design, Dynamic Island display, and high-quality dual camera system. This model also boasts strong brand recognition and high reliability, making it a preferred choice for many users even though it was released more than a year ago.

The iPhone 15's direct competitor is the iPhone 16e – a newer model with the A18 chip, Apple Intelligence support, and a longer-lasting battery. However, Vietnamese users still prefer the iPhone 15 due to its reasonable price and wider range of colors.

According to a report by Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 15 was the world's best-selling smartphone in 2024, accounting for nearly half of sales in the US and China. In Vietnam, despite production being discontinued, demand remained stable, demonstrating the enduring appeal of this product line in the mid-range premium segment.
