Iran officially confirms the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
On the morning of March 1st, Iranian state television officially confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Specifically, at 5:00 AM local time (8:30 AM Vietnam time), a presenter on Iranian state television announced the sad news.
The television channel also simultaneously broadcast archival images of the late leader accompanied by a black ribbon to signify national mourning.
Ali Khamenei, 86, is the figure who holds absolute power and has served as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran from 1989 to the present day.
His death is expected to create a major political earthquake not only in Iran but also across the entire Middle East region.
The Iranian government has officially announced a 40-day period of national mourning and a seven-day public holiday to commemorate Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Immediately after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was confirmed, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a strong statement, vowing to inflict "severe" punishment on those who "assassinated" him.
