The latest issue of IS's propaganda magazine, Dabiq, published a list of Tawaghit countries (countries that worship gods other than Allah), including Afghanistan, Iraq, Algeria, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Somalia, Yemen, Tunisia, Libya, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Egypt, which will be their next targets of attack.New Straits TimesToday's news report.
Mr. Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, nThe head of the counter-terrorism unit of the Malaysian Federal Police (SB-CTD) said that this information could increase terrorist threats to Malaysia in particular and Southeast Asia in general.
According to Pitchay, IS considers all Muslim countries that implement democratic mechanisms and hold general elections in accordance with their constitutions as apostate states, and according to Sharia law, the blood of the people of these countries will be spilled.
"The Dabiq magazine claims that the reason IS recently attacked the Egyptian-based Muslim Brotherhood is because they consider any political party, organization, or Islamic movement involved in political activities and elections to be apostate," Pitchay asserted.
The head of Malaysia's counter-terrorism agency added that suspects linked to IS arrested in Malaysia during counter-terrorism operations had also made similar statements.
Accordingly, another reason Malaysia was included on the target list is that the country is believed to have practiced pagan rituals (bid'ah), including visiting graves, which IS considers an act of worshiping the God of Death.
The fact that Malaysia is on Dabiq's list for the second time, the first time being on number 13 in January, could further incite ISIS supporters in Malaysia.
