Israel: First mention of Iran nuclear deal

November 10, 2015 11:30

(Baonghean.vn) – On November 9, after months of opposing efforts to reach an agreement on Iran's nuclear issue, for the first time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned the need for an agreement to be applied to this issue.

After meeting with President Barack Obama at the White House, Prime Minister Benjamin told reporters:

“We all have a common interest in preventing Iran from violating the agreements that have been signed and we will cooperate to achieve that goal… Everyone knows, we have different views on this agreement, but what is important now is what concrete actions we take?”.

However, Prime Minister Benjamin refused to explain the content of the agreement's monitoring mechanism when asked by journalists and only gave a general answer about strengthening bilateral cooperation on security issues, especially in terms of information exchange.

It is known that the meeting on November 9 between President Obama and Prime Minister Benjamin was the first meeting in the past year and since the major powers signed an agreement with Iran on Tehran's nuclear program in July 2014.

Previously, Mr. Benjamin repeatedly opposed this agreement and tried to convince US lawmakers not to pass the agreement. In March 2015, Mr. Benjamin even spoke before the US Congress about the Iranian nuclear issue.

Therefore, many analysts assess that Mr. Benjamin's statement can be seen as Israel's biggest concession on the Iran nuclear issue.
