On the afternoon of May 13, a reception ceremony for the US delegation will be held at the Israeli Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.
Ivanka Trump, daughter and senior advisor to US President Donald Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin led the delegation.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry said 86 foreign ambassadors in Israel were invited to attend the opening ceremony, of which 40 ambassadors accepted the invitation.
Four European countries, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary, have confirmed their attendance at the opening ceremony, despite the European Union (EU) opposing the US decision.
Thousands of police have been deployed across Jerusalem districts over fears of Palestinian protests and violence.
In addition, police will also line up and form a “human wall” between the neighboring Arnona area, where the new embassy is located, and the Sur Baher area, a Palestinian border area in East Jerusalem.
For a long time, Palestine has always wanted East Jerusalem to be the capital of a future Palestinian state. After President Trump's decision, the Palestinian government said that the US cannot be considered a fair mediator in the Middle East./.
