The comeback journey of Britain's top tennis hope, Jack Draper, has just suffered another painful blow. In the first round of the Cincinnati Open, the 24-year-old lost 3-6, 5-7 to Martin Landaluce. Notably, in the second set, Draper had taken a 5-2 lead and had the opportunity to take the match to a deciding set. However, a mental lapse and a lack of rebounding led him to lose the next five games, resulting in a bitter exit from the tournament.

A persistent wrist injury has brought Jack Draper's burgeoning career to a serious low. After withdrawing from Wimbledon, the British player returned at the Canadian Open but was eliminated in the opening round by Terence Atmane. With his current ranking, the British number one faces the risk of having to participate in the qualifying rounds to compete for a spot in the main draw at Flushing Meadows. “Looking at how far I’ve fallen compared to last year, and the number of things I have to change in my game…the mountain ahead seems very, very big,” Draper bitterly admitted.
The US Open will officially begin on August 30th. Jack Draper's biggest challenge right now is not just regaining his past achievements, but more importantly, restoring the confidence and fighting spirit that once helped him reach the top ranks of the world.
