STLA Medium platform and operational performance

The new generation Jeep Compass is developed on Stellantis' STLA Medium platform, sharing its chassis with models such as the Peugeot 5008 and Citroën C5 Aircross in Europe. The vehicle measures 4,550 mm in length, approximately 155 mm longer than its predecessor currently sold in the US.

In the European market, the new Compass will have a variety of powertrain options:

  • All-electric (BEV) four-wheel drive version:Equipped with two electric motors, for a total output of 375 horsepower. The rear electric motor has 65 horsepower and was developed specifically to enhance off-road capability, allowing the vehicle to climb 20% inclines even when the front wheels lose traction.
  • The all-electric (BEV) version has front-wheel drive:With 213 horsepower and a 74 kWh battery pack located under the floor, it provides a maximum range of 650 km (404 miles) according to the WLTP cycle.
  • Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV):It has a power output of 195 horsepower and uses a four-wheel drive system.

The vehicle supports DC fast charging with a power output of up to 160 kW, allowing the battery to be charged from 20% to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Additionally, it also supports AC charging with a power output of 22 kW.

Inheriting distinctive off-road DNA.

Despite its electrification, the Jeep Compass retains its outstanding off-road capabilities. The two-wheel-drive version has a ground clearance of 201 mm and a wading depth of 470 mm.

The all-wheel drive (AWD) versions are upgraded with a 10mm higher suspension and redesigned front and rear bumpers optimized for challenging terrain. AWD off-road specifications include an approach angle of 27 degrees, a breakover angle of 16 degrees, and a departure angle of 31 degrees. Jeep claims these are the best figures in the C-segment SUV category in Europe.

All new Compass models come standard with Selec-Terrain traction control, while AWD versions add hill descent assist.

Interior design and technology

In terms of exterior design, the 2026 Compass boasts a more modern and aggressive style. To improve aerodynamic efficiency, the vehicle is equipped with a seven-slot enclosed grille, active air vents, a flat underbody, and air intakes on the front bumper, helping to reduce the drag coefficient to below 0.3 Cx.

Inside the cabin, the space has been refreshed with a 16-inch central screen and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. The manufacturer has retained the physical buttons for climate control and entertainment functions. The car also supports over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

The all-new Jeep Compass has begun accepting orders in Europe for its First Edition versions. Assembled at Stellantis's Melfi plant in Italy, the vehicle is expected to be delivered to customers starting in the fourth quarter of this year before expanding to other markets.
