Former Liverpool player John Arne Riise believes Jurgen Klopp could be interested in the England manager role, even though the German strategist is prioritizing balance after leaving Anfield.

After concluding a successful era at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp now serves as the Global Director of Football at Red Bull. Despite stepping back into a strategic role, the German strategist is reportedly still hoping to try his hand at the national team level.
According to former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise, the England national team is one of the potential and particularly attractive destinations for Klopp. "If Klopp returns, I think he'll take on the role of national team manager somewhere. I don't think he'll continue to manage a club," Riise shared. "At some point, Klopp would be very interested in the England job. I think he's better suited to that role, as the pressure isn't as intense as it would be as managing a club."
In fact, Klopp has been linked with the England manager's job on numerous occasions. After Euro 2024, Gareth Southgate resigned, leaving the head coach position vacant. Many big names were rumored, including Jurgen Klopp. However, the English Football Association ultimately appointed another German strategist, Thomas Tuchel.
Prioritizing balance and an open future.
Currently, Jurgen Klopp doesn't seem in a hurry to return to the coaching routine. Despite being linked with big clubs like Real Madrid, he has repeatedly stated his satisfaction with his current life. His new role provides him with the necessary distance from the intense pressure of weekly matches.
In an interview on The Diary of a CEO podcast, Klopp reaffirmed his commitment: “I’ve said before that I wouldn’t manage any other team in England. So, if I did, theoretically, it could only be Liverpool.”
Unlike many of his colleagues, Klopp doesn't consider his coaching career to be the core of his life. He frankly admits that this job once consumed his personal life, disrupting the balance he particularly cherishes. Nevertheless, the door to a return to top-level football is not yet completely closed for the German strategist.
