On October 11th, the police in Tu Son town, Bac Ninh province, issued a temporary detention order against Lo Van Soa (23 years old) from Chieng Lao commune, Muong La district, Son La province, to investigate the crime of robbery.
Accordingly, on the afternoon of October 10th, at the Lien Viet Postbank branch in Tho Mon neighborhood, Dinh Bang commune, Tu Son district, Bac Ninh province, Soa, wearing a baseball cap and a face mask, and carrying a sharp knife, attempted to rob customers transacting at the bank.
At that moment, a woman in the transaction room was receiving 200 million VND from a bank employee when Soa held a knife to her neck, demanding that she hand over a black bag, put the money in it, and take it away.
Upon being yelled at by the bank staff, Soa dropped the knife, grabbed all the money, and fled on his motorbike. At that moment, a plainclothes anti-robbery patrol team from the Tu Son town police, who were nearby, spotted the incident and pursued, subdued, and apprehended Soa, recovering all 200 million VND and related evidence.
Soa confessed that he was a driver for a company in Bac Ninh, and due to his gambling addiction, he had accumulated a large debt and devised a plan to rob a bank.
