The despicable man stabbed his girlfriend 9 times and then posted a photo of the knife on Facebook.
Hanoi police have just completed their investigation and recommended prosecuting Pham Van Vien (born in 1994, from Hai Duong) for murder.
According to the investigation's conclusions, Vien and Ms. T. (born in 1993, from Hung Yen) were in a relationship since 2013. In August 2018, Ms. T. initiated the breakup. Vien repeatedly messaged her via Zalo and Facebook to try and win her back, but was always rejected. He then sent threatening messages, vowing to throw acid at her and kill her.
On the afternoon of October 14, 2018, Vien logged into her Facebook account and saw a photo of Ms. T. standing next to a young man. Believing that Ms. T. had a new boyfriend, Vien became extremely angry.

That afternoon, he rode his motorbike, carrying a dagger, to Bui Thi Xuan Street in Hanoi to wait for Ms. T. to return from work so he could confront her. At 7 PM that same day, seeing Ms. T. leaving her workplace, Vien followed her and invited her for coffee, but she sped away on her motorbike.
The man grabbed Ms. T. by the shoulder and yanked her motorbike, causing it to fall onto the road. While the girl fell to the ground and shouted, "Help me!", the man grabbed her by the back of her shirt, dragged her into the middle of the road, and stabbed her once in the stomach and eight times in the back with a knife.
At that moment, many passersby surrounded them. Fearing arrest, Vien fled. After committing the crime, the jealous assailant called the victim's mother and cousin to inform them that he had just stabbed Ms. T.
Viên even nonchalantly took a photo of the murder weapon and posted it on his personal Facebook page, along with the caption: "The blood of the girl who was with me for 5 years, Nguyen Thi Thu T."
Fearing that posting the photos on Facebook would lead to his arrest by the police, Vien deactivated his Facebook account, broke his phone's SIM card, and threw away the knife used in the crime. On October 16, 2018, he surrendered to the police.
As for the victim, thanks to timely medical intervention, she survived but suffered 65% health damage. Ms. T. demanded that Vien compensate her with over 200 million VND and requested that the suspect be prosecuted according to the law.
The investigation report concluded that Ms. T.'s survival was beyond Viên's control. The defendant's motive for committing the crime was despicable and warrants severe punishment to deter and prevent similar crimes in the future.
