Female suspect's plan to kill single woman
Le Thi Chanh, 48 years old, pretended to take a bus home to create an alibi before murdering a woman she knew and robbing her.
Chanh, from Thua Thien - Hue, was detained for investigation.Killing, Robbery,Colonel Pham That, Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Provincial Police, informed at a press conference on the afternoon of December 15.
At the investigation agency, Chanh said she lived here and there, addicted to gambling. A few months ago, through an intermediary in Ho Chi Minh City, she was introduced by the uncle of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lan, 50 years old, over the phone, then invited to live together in Phan Ri Cua, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan. Here, Chanh often visited Mrs. Lan's house, saw the homeowner wearing a lot of gold and living alone, so she had the idea of killing and robbing.

To create an alibi, on November 28, Chanh pretended to take a bus to Hue to visit his family, but in reality, he rented a room elsewhere. On the evening of November 30, after carefully observing the surroundings, Chanh entered Ms. Lan's house to carry out his plan.
The female suspect confessed to hitting the homeowner in the head with a bat. Seeing that Ms. Lan was still able to resist, Chanh strangled her to death. The female murderer stripped off all of Ms. Lan’s jewelry and took some other belongings, then used a rag to wipe the traces on the floor before leaving. Chanh sold the stolen property while on the run.
Late on December 12, 12 days after committing the crime, Chanh was arrested at a hotel in Trung Son, Binh Chanh, Ho Chi Minh City. "When he was restrained, the suspect was holding a small knife. Chanh said he intended to continue killing the hotel receptionist to rob money at the counter," said the leader of Binh Thuan Police.
According to Colonel That, the suspect had a detailed plan, which made it difficult for the investigation team. The police screened more than 100 suspects. "Phan Ri Cua is a rather complicated area because there are many addicts and thieves, so we had to screen a large number of people," Colonel That said.
During the process of gathering information, the investigation agency determined that among the people who often visited the victim's house was a woman with a Hue accent. However, two days ago, this woman was seen on National Highway 1 catching a bus back to her hometown. "She has an alibi for the time, but we are still cautious and will not ignore it," Colonel That informed.
The task force was surprised to receive a report that after November 28, Chanh was still hanging around Phan Ri Cua. The investigation team went to the address of the person who introduced Chanh to the victim's uncle on Nguyen Xi Street, Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. At first, this person did not cooperate, but later confessed that the "monster" had asked her to take her to the intersection in Vinh Loc A Commune, Binh Chanh District, and then she took a taxi to an unknown destination. Following the trail, the police raided the hotel and arrested Chanh.
