The fugitive who raised the funds and fled to Laos still couldn't escape.
Nguyen Van Anh admitted to raising money from people in Hoa Binh province to invest in land. When the gold mining investment failed and he was unable to repay the debt, he fled to Laos to work as a laborer.
On June 25th, the Standing Task Force of the Dien Bien Provincial Police in Laos, in close coordination with the Lao authorities, successfully apprehended a dangerous wanted fugitive, subject to arrest warrant No. 368/QDTN-CSHS issued by the Hoa Binh Provincial Police, who was hiding in Luang Prabang City, Luang Prabang Province, Laos.

The person arrested is Nguyen Van Anh, born in 1995, residing in Trung Do hamlet, Tan Hop commune, Tan Ky district, Nghe An province.
Previously, in April 2025, after receiving information from the Vietnamese representative office in Laos, the task force closely coordinated with the Lao side, acting as both a legal bridge and coordinating the implementation of operational measures. At 12:09 PM on June 25, 2025, the authorities successfully apprehended the suspect while he was working at a Vietnamese-owned mechanical workshop in Khom Khoang village, Luang Prabang city, Luang Prabang province. The seized items included one mobile phone and one wristwatch.
Initially, the suspect admitted to soliciting money from people in Hoa Binh province.investing in land,When the gold mining investment failed and he was unable to repay his debts, he fled to Laos to work as a laborer.
After completing the legal procedures, the suspect was handed over through the Huoi Puoc border gate in Na Son commune, Dien Bien Dong district, for further processing according to Vietnamese law. The handover process was conducted in accordance with proper procedures, ensuring strictness, safety, and adherence to international legal principles.
