Connecting supply and demand for OCOP products in Nghe An.
On the afternoon of November 17th, the Sub-Department of Quality, Processing and Market Development - Department of Agriculture and Rural Development organized a conference to connect customers and distributors with production facilities to promote the consumption of OCOP products in Nghe An province in 2024.
Attendees included representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; representatives from the sub-departments, the Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Economic and Infrastructure Departments of the districts, towns, and Vinh City; supermarkets in the area; and companies, cooperatives, and households producing OCOP products in the province.

The conference provided an opportunity for OCOP (One Commune One Product) product manufacturers in the province to introduce their products to customers, food distributors, and supermarkets. In addition, producers and businesses received information on market trends, e-commerce sales techniques, and important information on product demand from business systems and consumers.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Xuan Hoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: Nghe An province has strengths in agricultural production and a diverse range of regional products. Besides promoting the production and processing of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products, Nghe An province also focuses on improving quality, building brands, packaging, labeling, and traceability.
By October 2024, the entire province had 595 products achieving OCOP 3-star rating or higher (including: 563 products with 3 stars, 31 products with 4 stars, and 1 product with 5 stars).
Trade promotion and market development for agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products have been intensified through various channels and methods.
In 2024, units in the province organized 3 trade promotion trips; supported units participating in over 30 trade fairs with more than 130 booths and over 200 products displayed, introduced, and promoted at trade fairs nationwide; organized 2 conferences connecting agricultural product consumption; and organized 2 training courses on trade promotion, sales, and product branding for 240 participants.

Despite the achievements, the production, processing, and consumption of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products still face limitations: fragmented production remains prevalent, production linkages are limited and not yet strong, the development of key product raw material areas has not been achieved; export volume is low, and the proportion of direct exports is still low; and the product consumption market is sometimes unstable...

At the conference, in addition to connecting supply and demand and product consumption, OCOP producers and business owners were guided by experts on how to bring agricultural products to e-commerce platforms, including popular and effective e-commerce platforms, to increase sales methods in the era of Industry 4.0.
In addition, representatives from supermarkets also offered suggestions to help OCOP products from Nghe An province appear more frequently on supermarket shelves. These suggestions included mandatory requirements such as complete product certifications and legal documentation. OCOP producers must enhance product design and packaging to suit market demands and consumer preferences, thereby increasing competitiveness against products from other localities. Furthermore, OCOP producers must ensure timely delivery and sufficient supply to supermarkets, avoiding situations where supermarkets need goods but there is a shortage or the goods are not ready for delivery.

Within the framework of the conference, nine agreements were signed for product consumption between supermarkets, distributors, and production facilities and OCOP (One Commune One Product) entities in the province.
