Connecting Lan Chau Island and Ngu Island: A highlight of Cua Lo tourism.
(Baonghean) - Among the investment projects agreed upon in Nghe An province on the morning of February 15th, one project serving tourism and resort purposes was signed. This is the "Lan Chau - Song Ngu Eco-tourism, Resort Villa, Sports, and Entertainment Complex" project (hereinafter referred to as the Lan Chau - Song Ngu Tourism Complex). If successfully implemented, this is considered one of the boldest projects, contributing to the development of tourism services in Cua Lo town.
Immediately after the investment agreement signing, Dr. Tran Quoc Lam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Song Ngu Son Joint Stock Company, enthusiastically discussed the project with reporters. Recognizing the strengths and tourism potential of Cua Lo town in general, and of Ngu Island, Lan Chau Island, and Nghi Hoa area in particular, Song Ngu Son Joint Stock Company decided to invest in the construction of the "Lan Chau - Song Ngu Eco-tourism, Resort Villa, Sports and Entertainment Complex" project. The goal is to build a unique seaside tourism complex on Ngu Island, Lan Chau Island, and Nghi Hoa area, including high-end resorts, entertainment areas, event venues, exciting adventure sports, and various other services to encourage tourists to stay longer in Cua Lo and create value-added services for local tourism.
The project is planned on three land areas within Cua Lo Town, including: Lan Chau Island with an area of 6.36 hectares of mainland and 8.52 hectares of sea surface; Nghi Hoa area with an area of 11.58 hectares of mainland and 1.45 hectares of sea surface; and Ngu Island with an area of 50.5 hectares of island land and 35.78 hectares of sea surface. The total land and sea area of the project is nearly 130 hectares, with a total investment of nearly 1,800 billion VND. According to the investor's calculations, the project is expected to welcome approximately 1,000,000 – 1,500,000 tourists annually, of which about 500,000 will stay overnight. The effective exploitation of the "Lan Chau - Song Ngu Tourism Complex" project will bring many economic and social benefits, create jobs for thousands of local people, contribute to improving the short-term "summer tourism" situation, and extend the year-round tourism activities in Cua Lo. This is one of the projects that, when built and operated, will contribute to the development of the tourism industry in line with the orientation of "becoming an important economic sector with rapid and sustainable development"; connecting cultural, historical, ecological, and resort tourism, making Vinh - Cua Lo - Nam Dan tourism a cluster of tourism and services linked to national and international tours.

Song Ngu Son Joint Stock Company will build a cable car system connecting Lan Chau Island to Hon Ngu Island, located about 4km from the Cua Lo coastline. Lan Chau Island is situated right next to the coast (also known as Ru Coc). Previously, a company invested in developing the area, but the project was abandoned due to low returns. Song Ngu Son Company's idea is to transform the jagged cliffs stretching out into the sea into uniquely shaped rocks to attract tourists. At the island's summit is a pavilion once used by Emperor Bao Dai, offering panoramic views of the town, Cua Lo port, and the vast ocean. If the project becomes operational, the island will serve as a "rear base" tourist attraction, combined with a cable car station to Hon Ngu Island. The company will also build guesthouses amidst pristine forests, allowing visitors to observe rare flora and fauna and explore adventurous water sports. The island also boasts beautiful, pristine beaches, promising to be an attractive tourist destination for visitors coming to Ngư Island for relaxation, ecotourism, and to host domestic conferences, etc.
Mr. Tran Quoc Lam, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, is a native of Nghe An province and spent many years studying, researching, and working in Russia. He has visited Cua Lo many times for vacation and had heard about the idea of exploiting the tourism potential of Ngu Island. After many years of planning, he and his friends established Song Ngu Son Joint Stock Company, determined to invest in building the "Lan Chau - Song Ngu Tourist Complex". Mr. Lam stated: “If all procedures go smoothly, we will immediately begin implementing the project. Initially, along with basic construction, we will acquire a fleet of boats to serve tourist tours to Ngư Island. The period from 2014 to 2016 will be dedicated to building infrastructure and the main components of the project, as well as launching brand promotion campaigns, conducting market analysis, and building a customer base. With our scale and financial resources, the company's products have a strong chance of reaching international markets, foreign customers, especially those in Asia and Eastern Europe, with Russia being the main target market where company members have existing relationships...”
The development of the "Lan Chau - Song Ngu Tourist Complex" project aligns with the province's planning orientation for developing tourist areas, while simultaneously boosting the exploitation of existing tourism potential in Cua Lo town and meeting the growing demand for entertainment and sports activities from domestic and international tourists. The project will be a highlight for the coastal tourism landscape of Cua Lo in particular and Nghe An province in general.
