Kha Ly and Thanh Duy's journey to parenthood was not easy. The actress had to face many health problems, including a thyroid tumor and two surgeries to remove ovarian cysts. Doctors advised her to stabilize her health before planning to have children.
For many years, despite not using contraception, the couple had not had any good news. They also had to endure the pain of loss when Kha Ly unfortunately suffered a miscarriage. During that difficult period, Thanh Duy was always by her side, putting aside his work to encourage and care for his wife.
Finally, the couple turned to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and luck smiled upon them. However, the first three months of pregnancy were a huge challenge for Kha Ly. She shared: “I suffered from severe morning sickness... I am older and had difficulty conceiving, so I was monitored very closely by the doctors. I had to inject myself with medication every day into my abdomen to prevent muscle relaxation, blood clotting, and to keep the fetus attached to the uterus. These injections left my abdomen bruised.”
The joy of having a child born.
After eight years of waiting, the moment she found out she was pregnant made Kha Ly burst into tears of happiness. She confided, "My husband and I have longed for the sound of children in our home. I know my partner is eager but doesn't say it out loud, always encouraging me with the saying 'children are a gift from God,' not wanting to put pressure on me."
When baby Lita was born, both parents were overwhelmed with happiness. “The moment we held our child in our arms, our dream had come true. When we heard her cry, we were overwhelmed with joy,” the actress shared emotionally.
Since having a child, their lives have been filled with joy. Kha Ly dedicates all her time to caring for their baby, while Thanh Duy is the main breadwinner and helps his wife with childcare whenever he has free time.
A love story and a surprise marriage proposal.
Kha Ly and Thanh Duy met at the Phu Nhuan Theater of People's Artist Hong Van. Their relationship began as colleagues, but feelings gradually developed after working together. After about three years of dating, the couple got married in 2016.
Thanh Duy once revealed details about his surprise marriage proposal to his wife in Manchester, England, witnessed by People's Artist Hong Van and the late artist Anh Vu. He humorously recounted that everything happened spontaneously, and even the engagement ring was borrowed from Kha Ly for the photo shoot because he hadn't had time to prepare one.
A fulfilling life now
Despite being busy with her role as a mother, Kha Ly still maintains a fresh and radiant appearance. At nearly 40 years old, the actress is praised for her slender figure and youthful demeanor. She says that all the sacrifices were worthwhile when her daughter was born, bringing joy and bonding to the family.
Currently, Kha Ly has started returning to her artistic work, but she chooses projects that allow her to balance her time with caring for her family. Regarding plans to have more children, she said that she and her husband are letting things happen naturally.
