Opening Ceremony of the "Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Bloodlines" Program
(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of July 10th, in Vinh City, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Nghe An province inaugurated the 6th "Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood" program in 2018. Attending the event were Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives from the Central Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, and representatives from various departments and agencies.

On behalf of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, Mr. Le Minh Thong, Vice Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, delivered a speech highlighting the results and significance of the voluntary blood donation campaign in the recent past.
In 2017, the province organized 69 blood donation drives and mobilized over 29,500 units of blood; in the first six months of this year, it also mobilized 16,258 units of blood, but the localized blood shortage still persists.

Highly appreciating the noble act of blood donation by the volunteers, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also expressed his hope that in the future, agencies, departments, units, and social organizations will strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation. He also called for continued efforts to encourage union members and association members to actively participate in the voluntary blood donation program for high effectiveness.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Gia Tien, Chief of the Office of the Central Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation and Head of the Organizing Committee of the Red Journey, praised and acknowledged the efforts of the provincial Steering Committee for Blood Donation. He highly appreciated the significance of the "Red Journey - Connecting Vietnamese Blood" program and called for the joint efforts and participation of the community, especially the younger generation, to achieve the blood unit target, to promptly replenish the blood bank, and to actively serve the purpose of blood donation, treatment, and timely care for those suffering from serious illnesses.

On this occasion, the Program Organizing Committee presented 10 gifts to 10 patients with blood diseases who are in difficult circumstances; and presented flowers and tokens of appreciation to the Provincial Steering Committee and sponsors who have supported the program.

The 6th annual blood donation festival in Vinh City officially begins tomorrow (July 11th) at the Vinh City Festival Palace, followed by several other locations throughout the province.
