Opening Ceremony of the Karate Tournament - 10th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival 2026
On the morning of July 24th, at the Provincial Gymnasium, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An province organized the opening ceremony of the Karate Tournament within the framework of the 10th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival, 2026.

Nearly 300 officials, coaches, and athletes from 40 wards, communes, and units throughout the province participated in this year's tournament. The athletes competed in two events: Kata (performance) in men's and women's teams, men's and women's singles, and mixed men and women's teams; and Kumite (sparring) in men's and women's teams, men's and women's singles, in weight categories from 44 to 80 kg.

Attending the opening ceremony were Comrade Tran Quoc Khanh - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, and representatives from the Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Karate is the 11th competitive event of the 10th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival in 2026. Through this tournament, athletes, localities, and units will have the opportunity to strengthen solidarity, exchange experiences in competition, and develop the movement. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for the Organizing Committee to assess the quality of the Karate movement in the province, discover new talents, and identify promising athletes to further train and develop the provincial Karate team, aiming to participate in national tournaments and prepare for the 10th National Sports Festival.

The 10th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival in 2026 is a major event for the province's sports. The competitions in the festival program are not only a place for contests, but also an environment for athletes to cultivate willpower, courage, solidarity, and a desire for excellence. Among them, Karate, with its distinctive values of discipline, self-confidence, respect, responsibility, and the will to overcome oneself, always embodies the beauty of a sport linked to character education and martial arts ethics.

Notably, to enhance the fairness and professional quality of the Karate Tournament - 10th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival, 2026, the Organizing Committee has invited top-level referees from Asia and Southeast Asia to officiate the tournament.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the athletes began competing in the Kata (performance) events.
The Karate competition of the 10th Nghe An Provincial Sports Festival, 2026, will take place over three days from July 24-26.
