Opening Ceremony of the First Nghe An Border Guard Pickleball Tournament
On the morning of September 9th, the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province held the opening ceremony of the first Pickleball Championship in 2024.
Attending the opening ceremony were Comrade Bui Dinh Long - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Culture and Sports; leaders of the Party Committee and the Provincial Border Guard Command, along with the athletes.
Pickleball is a new sport, introduced to Nghe An province in June of this year, but the Provincial Border Guard Command has invested in building a standard field system so that officers and soldiers can access and participate in physical training.
The first Nghe An Border Guard Pickleball Championship in 2024 is an activity aimed at celebrating the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024) and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024). It also aims to promote sports activities, create a beneficial playground, enhance cultural and spiritual life, strengthen interaction and solidarity, and contribute to motivating officers, soldiers, and staff to strive to successfully complete their assigned tasks.
The first Nghe An Border Guard Pickleball Championship in 2024 attracted 61 athletes from the Nghe An Border Guard Pickleball Club and affiliated units. The athletes competed in six categories: Men's Singles (under 45 years old); Men's Singles (over 45 years old); Men's Doubles (under 45 years old); Men's Doubles (over 45 years old); Women's Singles; and Mixed Doubles.
At the opening ceremony, the organizing committee donated 30 million VND to the "Borderland Mid-Autumn Festival" program and presented flowers to the tournament sponsors.
The tournament will conclude on the afternoon of September 9th.
