Attending the opening ceremony were: Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; members of the Central Committee of the Party: Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh; Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung, along with leaders of ministries and sectors, veteran journalists and a large number of journalists and the public nationwide.

Taking place over three days from April 13th to 15th, the 2022 National Press Conference was organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Hanoi People's Committee in coordination with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the Hanoi Museum.

This year's Press Festival attracted the participation of 106 exhibition booths, including 49 central and ministerial press units and 57 local units.

In his opening remarks, Comrade Le Quoc Minh - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper - affirmed that the 2022 National Press Conference is an opportunity to honor the strong development and great achievements of Vietnamese journalism, and to promote journalistic products associated with the labor and creative activities of journalists nationwide.

At the same time, it is important to strengthen interaction and engagement between journalists and the public, thereby encouraging the press to best fulfill its functions and duties, meeting the ever-increasing information needs of the people.

The National Press Conference is also an opportunity to commend and encourage the great contributions of units, individuals, organizations, and businesses that have made positive contributions to the revolutionary journalism cause.

The 2022 National Press Conference will feature many rich and engaging activities, such as: Organizing an exhibition of Spring newspaper publications and typical press publications at the beginning of 2022 (including New Year's Day newspapers, Spring issues of the Year of the Tiger 2022 - Year-end - New Year).

The exhibition is divided into four areas, including: Firstly, the thematic exhibition area comprising the exhibition booths of the Ministry of Information and Communications; the Journalists' Association of Nhan Dan Newspaper; the Journalists' Association of the National Assembly Office; the Journalists' Association of Central Agencies of the Vietnam Journalists' Association: the Government Electronic Information Portal; the Journalists' Association of Vietnam Television; the Journalists' Association of Vietnam Radio; the Journalists' Association of Vietnam News Agency; and the exhibition booths of the Hanoi Journalists' Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists' Association.

Secondly, the exhibition area for central-level press agencies; thirdly, the central exhibition area: showcasing an overview of the press in all 63 provinces and cities; fourthly, the exhibition area for press training and development units.

In particular, the 2022 National Press Conference will feature many meaningful political, social, and professional activities that will create highlights and make the conference unique, such as: the thematic exhibition "100 Years of Le Paria Newspaper" (The Suffering People); the photo exhibition "Paths of Spring"; the forum "Today's Issues: Digital Transformation"; the live studio and panel discussion "As If There Had Never Been a Separation", "Stories of the Profession: The Two Words 'Humanity'"; and the music program "The Best Voices of Journalists".

At the 2022 National Press Conference, the Organizing Committee will award prizes for: "Impressive Tet Newspaper Cover"; "Impressive Online Newspaper Interface"; "Impressive Radio and Television Program". In addition, there will be a "2022 Press Impression" award (1 A, 1 B, 1 C) for collectives or individuals who organize attractive and impactful events within the framework of the Press Conference.

Delivering a keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Press Conference, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and Head of the Central Propaganda Department, stated that in the context of the world and regional situation continuing to experience rapid and complex developments, especially the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation in Russia and Ukraine has impacted many areas of the world, the region, and Vietnam. In this context, under the correct leadership of the Party, and regularly and directly by the Politburo and the Secretariat, the decisive, coordinated, and flexible direction and management of the Government, the operation of the entire political system, and especially the spirit of solidarity, compassion, and unity of the entire nation, our people have gradually pushed back the pandemic, effectively implemented the new motto of "safely adapting, flexibly controlling the Covid-19 pandemic," and accelerated the recovery and development of the economy, culture, and society. These successes were achieved thanks to the support of propaganda work in general and the press in particular within the country.

Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the team of journalists and media agencies in our country have been extremely proactive, effective, and flexible in closely following the grassroots and reflecting promptly, truthfully, and objectively the activities of our people and the entire political system.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also highly appreciated the important role of the Vietnam Journalists Association. This is a socio-political and professional organization of journalists nationwide. The Vietnam Journalists Association has united the team, affirmed the political and ethical revolutionary principles, and improved the professional skills and expertise of its members, thereby enhancing the quality of journalistic activities.

“The National Press Festival is a celebration for the press and the public nationwide. This is an activity rich in political, social, and cultural significance, full of intellectual value, enriching and enlivening journalistic life. This is an opportunity to showcase the strength of revolutionary journalism, create a competitive atmosphere among journalists, press agencies, and journalists' associations, contributing to enhancing the political acumen, professional skills, and professional ethics of journalists, thereby improving the quality and effectiveness of journalistic activities,” emphasized Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also stated that the 13th National Congress of the Party set forth the task of building a revolutionary, professional, humane, and modern press and media.

The comrade suggested that the Vietnam Journalists Association should continue to thoroughly understand the Party's guidelines and viewpoints, especially striving to live up to President Ho Chi Minh's teaching that "journalists are revolutionary soldiers, and the pen is their sharp weapon...".

“More than ever, journalists need to improve their professional skills and political acumen, remaining loyal to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the people. The stronger the political acumen, revolutionary spirit, and professionalism of journalists, the more steadfast their revolutionary stance, embracing international integration while cultivating ethics and strictly adhering to the 10 regulations on professional ethics for Vietnamese journalists; and the rules for using social media by journalists in the current digital transformation trend,” proposed Nguyen Trong Nghia, Head of the Central Propaganda Department.
