Opening Ceremony of the Spring Newspaper Festival of Nghe An Province 2017 (Year of the Rooster)

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 21st, with the theme "Celebrating the glorious Party, celebrating the renewal of the country and homeland," the Nghe An Province Spring Newspaper Festival 2017 officially opened at the Tan Ky Town Cultural Center, Tan Ky Town.

Attending the opening ceremony, on behalf of the Central Committee, was Comrade Ho Quang Loi – Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

Representing Nghe An province were: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hien - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Tang Ngoc Tuan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Provincial People's Procuracy; leaders of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Political Department of Military Region IV, and leaders, reporters, and editors from various media agencies.

Representing Tan Ky district were Comrade Bui Thanh Bao - Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Council, and representatives from various district-level departments and agencies.

This is the 15th year that the Vietnam Journalists Association has brought the Lunar New Year newspaper to the grassroots level. This is a cultural and spiritual activity, a beautiful tradition of the press nationwide in general, and in Nghe An in particular. This year's Lunar New Year Newspaper Festival celebrates the province's achievements after one year of implementing the Resolutions of the Party Congress at all levels, and Resolution 26 of the Politburo on building and developing Nghe An until 2020.

The Spring Press Festival of Nghe An Province in 2017, held from January 21st (24th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Monkey) to February 6th (10th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Rooster), showcased publications from Nghe An's press and nearly 100 newspapers and magazines, along with 1,000 publications from central, sectoral, and provincial newspapers. Simultaneously, the Spring Press Festival also featured outstanding television programs and promoted entries from the 5th Nghe An Newspaper Golden Moment Photo Contest in 2016.

Besides celebrating the achievements of 30 years of national reform, the Spring Press Festival is also a place for journalists to meet and interact with newspaper readers, radio listeners, and television viewers; at the same time, it creates conditions for the people to enjoy the achievements of journalistic reform for the cause of a prosperous people, a strong nation, and a just, democratic, and civilized society.

In his opening remarks at the ceremony, Comrade Tran Duy Ngoan, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province, affirmed the comprehensive efforts of Nghe An's press to improve the quality of content and form, and to promptly and vividly report on outstanding political events.

"In the overall achievements of the Party Committee, the army, and the people of the province, there is the persistent and continuous contribution of more than 300 journalist members and more than 500 reporters from 9 Nghe An press agencies and 43 central press agencies, sectoral newspapers with resident and representative offices in Nghe An," Comrade Tran Duy Ngoan emphasized.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Journalists Association of Nghe An province was honored to receive the Government's emulation flag. The Association also presented 30 gifts to people who rendered meritorious services to the revolution and poor students in Tan Ky district, and the leaders of the Provincial People's Procuracy presented 15 gifts to poor households in the area.
