Opening Ceremony of the Arts and Culture Festival of Ethnic Minorities in Nghe An Province

(Baonghean.vn) - The 4th "Nghe An Province Ethnic Minority Arts Festival" took place over two days, April 21-22.

Attending the opening ceremony were: Mr. Hoang Viet Duong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Luong Thanh Hai - Head of the Provincial Ethnic Affairs Committee; representatives of leaders from provincial departments and agencies; representatives of leaders from the District Party Committees and People's Committees; and 360 actors and musicians from 11 mountainous districts of Nghe An province.

This year's festival brings together 11 amateur performing arts troupes with more than 300 performers from 11 districts and towns: Quy Hop, Quy Chau, Que Phong, Nghia Dan, Tan Ky, Thanh Chuong, Anh Son, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, Ky Son and Thai Hoa town.

The festival program includes folk songs and dances of ethnic minorities with content praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the homeland, as well as a competition of ethnic costumes.

The Ethnic Minority Arts Festival is held every three years. This activity aims to honor, preserve, and promote the cultural identity of ethnic minorities throughout the province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hoang Viet Duong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed: Through the festival, and through the cultural and artistic talents of ethnic minorities, it will contribute to encouraging creativity and raising the level of cultural enjoyment of ethnic people, aiming to promote the socialization of cultural activities, mobilize all resources for the preservation and development of ethnic cultures, and link economic development with cultural development, especially in key areas.

According to the organizers' plan, the festival will conclude on the evening of April 22, 2016, at Ho Chi Minh Square.

Earlier, the participating groups had arrived in Vinh City very early to practice and prepare as best as possible for the performance.
