Opening Ceremony of the 2026 Den Ca Festival in Yen Thanh Commune
On the morning of March 4th, Yen Thanh commune held the opening ceremony of the 2026 Den Ca Festival in a solemn atmosphere, attracting a large number of officials, local people, and visitors from all over.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Bui Cong Vinh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Tran Thi Binh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Yen Thanh commune; Mr. Tran Van Ta - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Yen Thanh commune; Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Yen Thanh commune, along with leaders from neighboring communes.
The Ca Temple was built in the 16th century to worship Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang - a famous general of the Ly dynasty who contributed to "protecting the nation and its people". In addition, the temple also worships the deities Cao Son Cao Cac - Moc Than, Son Quan Cong Phan Canh Quang, and also includes the deities Bach Y Princess and Mai Hoa Princess.
Throughout various dynasties, especially during the Later Le Dynasty, the Ca Temple was renovated and expanded to a grand scale. In 2012, the temple was recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Monument. Besides its architectural value, including the 24 dragon thrones and ancestral tablets still preserved, the Ca Temple is also associated with many important historical milestones.
In the late 19th century, this place served as a secret meeting and living spot for the resistance fighters of Nguyen Xuan On and Le Doan Nha during the Can Vuong movement. Before the August Revolution and during the war against the US, the temple was a revolutionary base, a place to hide weapons and food supplies.
This year, preparations began early with landscaping the historical site, public awareness campaigns, and organizing heritage knowledge contests in schools, creating a vibrant atmosphere leading up to the festival.
The ceremonial part was held solemnly with traditional rituals such as the opening ceremony, the announcement, and the procession. The festive part was lively with many cultural and sporting activities associated with the first Commune Sports Festival, such as volleyball, tug-of-war, card games, and a drum-playing competition, attracting a large number of people to participate and cheer.
The Ca Temple Festival is a cultural and spiritual event held at the beginning of spring, while also contributing to promoting heritage values, educating about patriotic traditions, and strengthening community solidarity in the locality.
