Opening Ceremony of the Pu Nha Thau Temple Festival 2026
On the morning of March 13th (the 25th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse), at Pu Nha Thau Temple in Na Luong village, Huu Kiem commune, the People's Committee of Huu Kiem commune organized the opening ceremony of the 2026 Pu Nha Thau Temple Festival.
Attending the opening ceremony were Comrade Kha Van Tam – Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union; representatives of the leadership of Noong Het district, Xieng Khouang province, Lao People's Democratic Republic; local leaders and a large number of people and tourists.

Pu Nha Thau Temple is a place of worship dedicated to the Mother Goddess Thuong Ngan and the renowned general Doan Nhu Hai. Over the years, the temple has not only been a religious destination for the people but also a cultural space that unites the ethnic communities in the area.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the leader of Huu Kiem Commune People's Committee emphasized: This year's festival is being held in the context of the locality having just reorganized and streamlined its administrative apparatus. Therefore, the event is even more significant in strengthening community solidarity, promoting traditional cultural values, and linking it with the goals of socio-economic development and tourism of the locality.


Earlier that morning, a traditional procession took place from Na Luong village to the temple grounds in a solemn atmosphere, with the participation of a large number of local people. Immediately following the opening ceremony was the Grand Sacrifice ritual at the temple, expressing gratitude to the ancestors and praying for national peace and prosperity, and a bountiful harvest.

According to the program, the Pu Nha Thau Temple Festival in 2026 will take place on March 8, 11, 12, and 13 (corresponding to the 20th, 23rd, 24th, and 25th days of the first lunar month).

Besides spiritual rituals such as the opening ceremony, the announcement ceremony, the procession, the Grand Sacrifice, and the thanksgiving ceremony, the festival also features many lively activities such as a cultural performance, a traditional costume show – the Pu Nha Thau beauty pageant, and traditional folk games of the highland people such as throwing the ball, archery, stick pushing, tug-of-war…

These activities contribute to creating a joyful atmosphere at the beginning of Spring, while preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the ethnic groups in Huu Kiem, and promoting the local cultural and spiritual tourism potential to visitors from near and far.
