The annual Nguyen Xi Temple Festival is an occasion for the people and descendants of the Nguyen Dinh family throughout the country to express their respect and remembrance of this outstanding national hero, contributing to the education of patriotism and national pride for future generations, and also contributing to the preservation and promotion of national cultural values.

Nguyen Xi was born in the year Dinh Suu (1397) in Thuong Xa village, Chan Phuc district, now Khanh Hop commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province. He made great contributions in driving out the Ming army, helping Le Loi ascend to the throne, and is considered one of the founding meritorious officials of the Le dynasty.
During his career as an official, Nguyen Xi served four Le dynasties: Le Thai To, Le Thai Tong, Le Nhan Tong, and Le Thanh Tong, holding many important positions in the court at that time. In addition, he made significant contributions to the formation of many villages in the Northern Delta region, the eastern part of Nghi Loc district, and Cua Lo town in the 15th century.
In 1465, after Nguyen Xi's death, the Le Dynasty, deeply saddened, posthumously bestowed upon him the title "Grand Tutor, Duke of the Nation, with the special honor of founding the nation, posthumous name Nghia Vu." His remains were preserved in the Kinh Thien Palace by the king, and later his remains were moved to his hometown, now Khanh Hop commune, Nghi Loc district, Nghe An province, for burial. His descendants and the people then erected a temple and inscribed a stele to commemorate him for generations to come.

Nguyen Xi TempleLocated in Khanh Hop commune, Nghi Loc district, the temple is one of the largest in Nghe An province, built nearly 600 years ago. Despite numerous historical events, the monument retains its ancient beauty with its "inner courtyard, outer enclosure" architecture, arranged symmetrically and harmoniously. In 1990, the temple dedicated to General Nguyen Xi was classified as a National Historical Monument by the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism; in 2020, it was classified as a Special National Monument by the Prime Minister.
