Opening ceremony of the training course on adapting Nghe Tinh folk songs (Vi and Giam).
On the morning of November 12th, the Provincial Center for Traditional Arts held the opening ceremony for the 2025 training course on adapting Nghe Tinh folk songs (Vi and Giam) in Nghe An province.
Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Quach Thi Cuong – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; People's Artist Tien Dung, People's Artist An Ninh and 50 artisans and performers from folk song clubs in the province.
In his opening remarks, musician Tran Quoc Chung – Director of the Provincial Traditional Arts Center – emphasized that the folk songs of the Ví and Giặm genres are currently facing a growing shortage of successor composers, with the number of songs and melodies dwindling; the creation of new melodies and lyrics is also showing signs of stagnation.

The training course was opened to motivate and encourage the creativity of authors and artisans capable of adapting, composing, and writing lyrics for folk songs in the province, in order to add new works to the folk song treasury.
In addition, the class also serves as a guidance, helping authors creatively explore traditional folk music, flexibly applying adaptation methods and techniques to create works that both preserve cultural identity and reflect the spirit of the times.

At the same time, this is also an opportunity for students, artisans, and lecturers to meet, exchange ideas, learn from each other, and work together to preserve, conserve, and spread the sustainable value of Nghe Tinh folk songs, contributing to enriching the spiritual and cultural life of the people.
During the 5-day training course, participants will learn and acquire skills, methods, and experience in composing, adapting, and writing lyrics for Nghe Tinh folk songs (Vi and Giam). They will also discuss various topics under the guidance of People's Artists, musicians, and experienced lecturers who have dedicated themselves wholeheartedly to Vi and Giam folk songs for many years.
