Since Mr. Duy has only been working for the corporation for a few months and is only receiving a salary, there are no outstanding debts or issues arising. Currently, Vinachem has not taken any action regarding a replacement for Mr. Vu Dinh Duy.

Mr. Vu Dinh Duy previously served as the General Director of Petrochemical and Fiber Corporation (PVtex), the investor of the stalled Dinh Vu fiber project which incurred losses of thousands of billions of dong. Mr. Duy was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Chemical Industry Group on April 8, 2016.

Since October 24, 2016, Mr. Vu Dinh Duy has been absent from his workplace, citing the reason that he needed to go abroad for medical treatment. However, in reality, information provided by the Ministry of Industry and Trade indicates that the immigration management agency (Ministry of Public Security) confirmed that Mr. Duy left the country on October 22, 2016.

Immediately afterwards, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh established a working group to work with the Chemical Corporation. The disciplinary council established by the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommended dismissal for this individual due to serious violations of labor discipline.

According to Tuoi Tre newspaper, during his time working at Vinachem as a member of the Board of Directors, the corporation held 17 Board of Directors meetings, but Mr. Duy only attended 9, being absent from the rest.

At meetings, Mr. Duy has not participated or contributed much to the group's activities; his opinions have only gone as far as "agreeing."

Reportedly, the Dinh Vu fiber project is among the 12 loss-making projects in the industry and trade sector that the Government has directed to be resolved. Previously, the Government Inspectorate also recommended that the Ministry of Public Security investigate and handle violations at the Dinh Vu fiber plant.
