Amidst the hustle and bustle of modern life, this small riverside village still retains the essence of traditional culture in every house and every loom. Perhaps this is what helped Bong village (Thanh Binh Tho commune) achieve the title of "Cultural Village" at the provincial level in 1997 - a place where layers of cultural heritage of the Thai ethnic people are cherished and preserved through generations.

Located on the left bank of the Con River, Bong village (Thanh Binh Tho commune) possesses a serene and profound beauty. In 1997, Bong village was one of the first four villages in Nghe An province to be recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a "Cultural Village". Ms. Lu Anh Tuyet – Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Binh Tho commune, and Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Thanh Binh Tho commune (in the blue shirt) said that in the Thai language, the original name of Bong village was "Buung," a word used to describe a village located deep in a valley amidst vast hills and mountains. Later, for convenience in daily life and production, the people moved closer to the Con River, building a new life. The name "Buung" was then corrupted to Bong village.
