Discover the most Instagrammable spots in Western Nghe An.
The pristine landscapes, harmonious nature, and captivating stories from the locals are making it an ideal destination for tourists exploring the "Instagrammable spots" in western Nghe An province.
Khe To Goldfish Stream
Nestled in the peaceful mountains and forests of Trung Thinh hamlet, Nghia Trung commune (Nghia Dan district), Khe To Golden Fish Stream is becoming a sought-after "Instagrammable spot" for many tourists during the summer months.
Not overly noisy or bustling with tourist services, Khe To leaves a lasting impression with its pure, peaceful beauty, featuring crystal-clear water trickling over large and small rocks, and especially the strange presence of thousands of shimmering golden fish swimming in the cool water.

Interestingly, this place is not a professionally planned tourist destination, but originated from the passion and creative ideas of a local farmer – Mr. Pham The Vinh.
From a stream more than 50 meters long and about 40 meters wide, Mr. Vinh renovated and beautified it, harmoniously combining natural and artificial elements to create a unique "goldfish garden".
Using cement, wood, natural stone, and a vivid imagination, he created waterfalls and wooden bridges for visitors to stroll and admire schools of goldfish, some weighing as much as 3-5 kg.

Besides its enchanting beauty, Khe To Golden Fish Stream is also conveniently located. The road leading to the stream has been upgraded, there is ample parking, and the surrounding area is adorned with vibrant flower gardens created by human hands year-round. All of this creates a wonderful, relaxing space that captivates anyone who visits.
"Escaping the sun" in Phu Tuong region
If you love ecotourism and want to explore truly pristine beauty, Tuong Duong district will certainly not disappoint you. Located in the mountainous western part of Nghe An province, Tuong Duong is blessed by nature with a vast system of streams, waterfalls, and primeval forests.

In recent years, local people and authorities have begun investing in the development of ecotourism destinations, most notably the Nam Khien stream. Originating in the Vietnam-Laos border region, the Nam Khien stream meanders through many mountain ranges and villages in Luu Kien commune before flowing into the Nam Mo river. The stream is clear, cool, and has alternating shallow and deep sections, suitable for all ages. Children can play in the shallow, calm water, while adults can immerse themselves in the cool water to escape the summer heat.
On the journey upstream along the Nam Khien stream, visitors can encounter strange rock formations, sculpted by the water over the years into unique shapes. These are also popular check-in spots for young people because of their pristine and mysterious beauty.
During holidays, the campsites around Nam Khien stream are always fully booked due to the large number of tourists. Besides swimming, visitors also have the opportunity to enjoy typical highland dishes such as fish grilled in bamboo tubes, grilled free-range chicken, and sticky rice... All are rich in the flavors of the mountains and forests.

Besides Nam Khien stream, places like Nam Xan (Tam Quang), Khe Co (Tam Dinh), Dooc Bua (Tam Thai)... in Tuong Duong are also gradually becoming favorite "hot escapes" for tourists from Vinh city and the lowland districts. These places not only offer a cool feeling but also give children the opportunity to explore nature and learn to appreciate and protect the environment.
A masterpiece of caves, a magnificent heritage tree.
Western Nghe An province also boasts many stunning natural caves. One of them is Mo Cave in Tien Ky commune, Tan Ky district. Nestled in the tranquil Thai Minh village, Mo Cave resembles a giant natural sculpture, with sparkling stalactites hanging down and a year-round babbling underground stream. In summer, the cave is cool like a natural air conditioner, making it the perfect destination to cool off.

Upon entering Mo Cave, visitors will feel as if they have wandered into a paradise. The faint light filtering through the crevices in the rocks reflects off the stalactites, creating a shimmering, mysterious scene.
Beyond simply sightseeing, a visit to Tien Ky is also an opportunity to learn about the local culture of the Thai people – those who preserve their traditional way of life through weaving brocade, performing traditional dances, enjoying ethnic dishes, and especially experiencing their warm hospitality.

Thung Khien Cave in Dong Van commune is also a popular destination for many backpackers and nature-loving tourists. The journey to conquer such caves is not only a physical adventure, but also a journey to rediscover inner peace amidst the hurried modern world.
When visiting Tan Ky district, tourists can also visit the thousand-year-old banyan tree in Ke Mui hamlet, Giai Xuan commune. This thousand-year-old banyan tree, with its strange shape, is known locally as the "chicken-shaped sticky rice" tree. The tree grows on three protruding rocks, with a very large submerged rock beneath them.

Two parallel rocks lie side-by-side, with a gap of about 30 cm between them, providing stability for the top rock. Tree roots tightly embrace the three rocks, creating a stable structure resembling a "rice bowl" with a proud "rooster" perched atop it.

This thousand-year-old banyan tree was recognized as a Vietnamese Heritage Tree in 2015. Many people come here not only to admire its magnificent form but also to find a peaceful and tranquil place amidst the mountains and forests.
In summer, Nghe An boasts not only Cua Lo and Bai Lu beaches, but also countless "green oases" in the mountains – cool streams, mysterious caves, and vast green forests in the western part of the province – a land awakening, possessing immense tourism potential, eagerly awaiting human hands to explore, develop, and cherish it.
