Nghe An audiences shed tears when watching excerpt of 'Lam River Girl'

Nguyen Trung Phong was born in 1929 in Van Tap village, Dien Binh commune, and grew up in Trung Phuong village, Dien Minh commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province.

He is a famous playwright, one of the first people to lay the foundation for the Nghe Tinh folk drama stage. When mentioning Nguyen Trung Phong, people remember the folk song “Gian ma thuong”, remember the Nghe girl in “Co gai Song Lam”, a play that was performed at the Presidential Palace for President Ho Chi Minh to see in 1961, and was extremely enjoyed and highly appreciated by him. This play has won many Gold medals on the traditional drama stage.

During his career on stage, he left Nghe Tinh folk music stage with more than 20 classic plays, which have been performed regularly and continuously for the past 60 years. The Nghe Tinh folk music plays he composed are considered a valuable source of material, lasting over time.

The special thing is that the play "When the Team Leader is Away" is performed by the Dien Binh commune art troupe, the hometown of playwright Nguyen Trung Phong; the main character in the play is the playwright's cousin.

The exchange left many beautiful impressions in the hearts of Nghe An audiences, through which they further appreciated the great contributions of Nguyen Trung Phong.
