Inauguration of the Monument commemorating the 27th Infantry Regiment

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 20th, the inauguration ceremony of the memorial plaque for the 27th Infantry Regiment took place at the People's Committee of Nam Anh commune, Nam Dan district.

Attending the ceremony were Lieutenant General Nguyen Huy Hieu – former Deputy Minister of National Defense, former Commander of the 27th Infantry Regiment; Lieutenant General Hoang Ky – former Battalion Commander of the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment; representatives from the 4th Military Region Command; representatives from the Nghe An Provincial Military Command…

Representatives from the People's Committee of Nam Anh commune, along with representatives from the Veterans Association of the 27th Infantry Regiment, cut the ribbon to inaugurate the commemorative plaque.

Established in early 1968, the Regiment has a long history of combat achievements, having been awarded numerous medals and decorations by the Party and the State. Four collectives and individuals have been awarded or posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State.

In accordance with the wishes of the Regiment's veterans nationwide, a memorial plaque was erected and placed at the site where the Regiment was founded and held its send-off ceremony, within the grounds of the Nam Anh Commune People's Committee.

Comrade Nguyen Huy Hieu presented gifts to two mothers of fallen soldiers of the 27th Regiment and representatives of the families of fallen soldiers in Nam Anh commune.

The commemorative plaque is made from natural white stone from Quy Hop, measuring 3m in height, 1.87m in width, and 0.53m in thickness. The front of the plaque records the date the 27th Infantry Regiment was established and its send-off ceremony, while the back summarizes the achievements of the officers and soldiers who directly participated in combat on various battlefields for over seven years. The entire foundation and base are made of reinforced concrete and covered with natural stone, with a total value exceeding 100 million VND.

The veterans of the 27th Infantry Regiment hope that the memorial plaque will become a significant landmark for younger generations to learn from, emulate, and further promote revolutionary heroism in building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Representatives of the Veterans Association of the 27th Infantry Regiment presented scholarships to the People's Committee of Nam Anh commune.

On this occasion, representatives of the Veterans Association of Regiment 27 presented gifts to two heroic Vietnamese mothers and representatives of the families of fallen soldiers of the Regiment in Nam Anh commune, and also donated 5 million VND to the commune's scholarship fund.
