Inauguration of the restored ancient temple, nearly 600 years old.
(Baonghean.vn) - On December 4th, Quynh Thuan commune (Quynh Luu district) held the inauguration ceremony for a nearly 600-year-old temple after almost a year of restoration.
Attending the ceremony were representatives from the Religious Affairs Department of the Provincial Department of Internal Affairs, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Nghe An Provincial Police, leaders of Quynh Luu district and surrounding communes, along with a large number of monks and nuns from the Buddhist Executive Board of Nghe An and Dong Thap provinces, and Buddhist followers from within and outside the province.

Dong Yen Pagoda was built and expanded on the site of the old pagoda after local people discovered the ruins of a Buddhist structure dating back to the 15th century.
After nearly a year of construction, the project's components within the 1,500 m² area are complete.2 The completed project includes: the main temple, the ancestral shrine, and the family shrine, with a total estimated investment of nearly 7 billion VND. The funding mainly came from donations from the people, businesses, individuals, and Buddhist followers from all over the country.
The completed project is intended to serve the cultural, religious, and spiritual needs of the local people and tourists.

On this occasion, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also awarded certificates of commendation to Venerable Thich Nguyen Quang and Dong Yen Pagoda for their achievements in preserving and promoting cultural heritage values in the locality in 2016.
During the ceremony, the temple held a ceremony to enshrine the system of Buddha statues in the main sanctuary, inaugurated the large bronze bell, and released doves to pray for peace, national prosperity, and the well-being of the people.
Also during the ceremony, the pagoda presented 200 gift packages to poor households in difficult circumstances and 30 scholarships to poor but studious students in Quynh Long commune, each gift package worth 300,000 VND.
