The Tan Vu - Lach Huyen highway project in Hai Phong City is one of two main components of the Lach Huyen port infrastructure construction project - an international gateway port and the future first international transit port in Northern Vietnam.

The project includes a construction package implemented by the joint venture contractor Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co., Ltd. - Truong Son Construction Corporation - CIENCO4 Group Joint Stock Company with a total investment of VND 11,849 billion (50.171 billion Yen of Japanese ODA loan and VND 1,800 billion of counterpart capital from the Vietnamese Government).

The total length of the project is 15.63km, starting at Tan Vu intersection - Km100+891 Hanoi - Hai Phong expressway, ending at Lach Huyen port. Of which, the 5.443km long sea-crossing bridge (considered the longest sea-crossing bridge in Vietnam today) is constructed using SBS technology and balanced cantilever.

According to the design, the project has 2 intersections in Hai An district connecting related projects including Tan Vu intersection (connecting Hanoi - Hai Phong highway) and intersection No. 1 connecting the main road of the Southwest of Dinh Vu industrial park (connecting to provincial road 356 near the end of Hanoi - Hai Phong highway invested by Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board).

Tan Vu Interchange is currently under the direction of the Ministry of Transport to build according to the level-separated interchange plan (expected to be completed by the end of 2018). Therefore, before Tan Vu Interchange is completed, the project will be connected to the main southwest axis of Dinh Vu Industrial Park at Interchange No. 1 (Km2+810).

The Tan Vu - Lach Huyen highway construction project, completed and put into use, is considered one of the key projects of the transport sector in 2017 - 2018 and celebrates the 45th anniversary of cooperation between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Japan.

For Hai Phong in particular, the project helps connect and develop the city's coastal economy, contributing to increasing the attractiveness to investors for projects in the Dinh Vu - Cat Hai economic zone development program.

Contribute to reducing costs and travel time for people, reducing maritime traffic congestion at the current Nam Trieu canal.

Attending and cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the project, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that this key project has strategic significance in connecting the region's key economic zones.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated and thanked the Japanese Government for its active support, both technical and economic, to help complete the project on schedule.
