Inauguration of the STEM Practice Room at Huynh Thuc Khang High School

On the morning of December 30th, the Department of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation, held the inauguration ceremony for the STEM education practice room at Huynh Thuc Khang High School.

Also attending were: Nguyen Van Khoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; Tran Quang Dung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group; and Nguyen Cong Luan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Gas Corporation.

This is the second time the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation has made this donation.STEM labFor students in Nghe An province.

The STEM labs in the program are designed according to the "rapid - standardized - sustainable" model, equipped with interactive whiteboards, AI-IoT systems, VEX robotics, 3D printers, CNC cutting machines, energy and environmental experiment kits, meeting international reference standards such as FabLab, NGSS, ISTE, CSTA and aligning with the 2018 General Education Program.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Van Khoa expressed his sincere gratitude to the leaders of the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation for their attention, proposals, and implementation of the practical and humane investment policy of donating modern STEM education practice rooms to educational institutions in Nghe An province.

The comrade affirmed that, in the context of the new era, the digital era, building a digital government and a digital society requires the education sector to take the lead in promoting science, technology, innovation, especially STEM education. This is a strategic policy and decision that guides the development of education in line with the requirements for training high-quality human resources in the new period.

Over the years, Nghe An's education system has consistently received recognition and high praise from the Ministry of Education and Training for its educational quality and human resource quality. Nghe An is also a locality with many innovative and groundbreaking models in implementing STEM education, being the first province to develop a provincial-level scientific research project on "Applying STEM education models to preschool and primary schools" since 2021.

Based on this experience, the donation of STEM education practice rooms by the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Corporation to schools in the province will create more favorable conditions for junior and senior high schools to further promote STEM education. At the same time, it will spread the spirit of innovation and profound humanistic values ​​to the entire local education sector.

Through this, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training requested Huynh Thuc Khang High School to receive, manage, exploit, and effectively utilize the STEM education practice room; develop a suitable operational plan, properly maintain the facilities, maximize the value of the facility, effectively serve the cause of educational reform in the digital age, contribute to fostering a spirit of innovation and creativity in the younger generation, and meet the requirements of educational development according to the major resolutions of the Central Committee in the era of national progress.

At the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group (Petrovietnam), stated that in addition to its professional duties, the unit has a mission to ensure social welfare. In Nghe An province, over the years, the group has spent hundreds of billions of dong to support security, education, and flood victims. Throughout its operations, the unit has also recognized the necessity of participating in education and training, especially in nurturing the younger generation through investment in educational and training facilities.

Originating from an idea by General Secretary To Lam, Petrovietnam has initiated the "STEM Innovation Petrovietnam" program with the goal of building 100 internationally standardized STEM classrooms in 34 provinces and cities nationwide. This is also a proactive step by Petrovietnam in concretizing the orientation of considering education as a top national priority, determining the future of the nation, as repeatedly affirmed by the Party and State leaders.

At Huynh Thuc Khang High School, the leaders of Petrovietnam Group expressed their hope that, given the school's rich history and achievements over its 105 years of development, equipping the school with STEM classrooms would create favorable conditions for students to have a new, modern learning space, fostering enthusiasm and passion, encouraging exploration, discovery, interaction, experimentation, and creativity in the field of science and technology.

Upon receiving this gift, Mr. Phan Xuan Phan, Principal of Huynh Thuc Khang High School, pledged to continue innovating and improving the quality of teaching and learning, and to promote the strengths of STEM education. From there, he aims to nurture the aspirations for learning, creativity, and personal growth in the younger generation, helping them to gradually improve and refine themselves, creating a solid foundation for their future.
