Khanh Vy '7 languages' speaks up about rumors of 'entering VTV thanks to connections'
Amid rumors that she was able to work at VTV at a young age thanks to her connections and money, MC Khanh Vy spoke out for the first time. She also revealed many things about her life.
Becoming an “internet phenomenon” overnight after appearing in the clip “A female student speaking seven languages”, Khanh Vy has now matured a lot and become a charming female MC of Vietnam Television, hosting many programs. Talking to VietNamNet, the multi-talented 19-year-old girl confided for the first time her surprising personal secrets.
Khanh Vy used to host many youth programs of Nghe An Television. However, Khanh Vy's image was first widely known nationwide from the clip "Female student speaks seven languages", can you share the idea of making this clip?
- Actually, the clip had no idea (laughs). We made the clip without any purpose or preparation. But maybe it was a bit of luck that the clip became known to everyone, I myself was very surprised!
How did Khanh Vy come to the MC profession?
- I am a person who loves to participate in activities and meet people. Gradually, I got to work at the TV station where I was born and raised.
When I joined VTV7’s 8 IELTS program as a guest in the first episode of the first season, I had the opportunity to really get to know VTV. I became an MC from the livestream programs of 8 IELTS and now I’m hosting 3 programs on VTV7. Although there is a lot of pressure, everything comes to me very naturally.
With continuous success, Khanh Vy has transformed from an internet phenomenon to a person admired by many young people. If you could say one sentence to inspire, what would you say?
- “Have courage and be kind!”. This is a motto I use a lot in my life, almost in every situation. Courage to overcome all challenges because there is no path paved with roses. And I always try to live well with everyone, with life, then surely one day I will reap sweet fruit, or simply I feel happier every day.

Only 19 years old, but Khanh Vy has achieved a lot of success. What have you had to give up to be where you are now?
- I never thought I would achieve anything too great. For me, those were very valuable experiences. They were simply the results I achieved after hard work and a little bit of luck. I think doing anything requires a lot of effort, and there are many other factors, but I don't call it a "trade-off".
What I put in is effort. I myself am not a perfect person, so I always improve my English and hosting skills every day, as well as actively learn from my seniors at the TV station.
Perhaps the trade-off is that there were times when I forgot to spend time with my family, friends and myself, that is what I felt I had to trade because after all, family and friends are always the most important things. But now I am different, I know how to balance my time to overcome the difficulties I just mentioned.
As Khanh Vy just said, every skill requires a lot of effort, so to have the current expertise you must have gone through a process of hard training?
- Actually, I don't dare to say that it's hard work, it sounds too great! (laughs)
As a TV MC, the job of “serving a hundred families” requires me to always know how to improve and harmonize to meet the majority of the audience’s requirements. Each person who gives me feedback is my “teacher”. In the past, my voice was very weak and I couldn’t sing high-pitched songs. I practiced singing high-pitched songs by shouting in the bathroom. After a while, my lungs “expanded”, my throat “opened”, and my voice became thicker and stronger. A thick and warm voice is very important for an MC.

Regarding English skills, I still have many shortcomings. I try to practice listening as much as possible, and practice pronouncing each word correctly. Although the intonation seems “Western”, there are many words that are not standard, so I have to practice hard, so that people understand what I say, and people understand what I say, is the most basic requirement.
So what about the MC's courage when standing in front of the camera?
I don’t know why, but since I was little, I’ve always loved camera lenses. It was like I was born that way, so standing in front of the camera wasn’t really a big challenge.
But being an MC requires a lot of learning. I have to practice regularly, stand in front of the mirror and speak and correct myself. The most important thing is probably that I get to work in a professional environment where my seniors help me a lot. I am truly grateful!
One thing that I always worry about is how to find my own unique style. I remember when talking to my colleagues at the station, they said that there are more and more MCs now and everyone speaks very fluently, finding someone who speaks well is not difficult. But how to exude a unique style that people can immediately recognize is not easy.

How do you react to rumors that Khanh Vy relied on connections to get a good job and criticism that doesn't acknowledge her abilities?
- I think everyone has their own perspective and measure of success. When they don't acknowledge it, I will first look back at myself. I always try to learn as much as possible, so that when I compare myself to before, seeing progress is also a success.
I don’t know how to explain the rumors that Khanh Vy has connections and money to get into the station because it’s not true. Khanh Vy’s family, both her father and mother, are not in the industry, so there won’t be any “children of the powerful” or similar stories. I haven’t heard directly about these rumors, but if they are true, I’ll have to look into it!

Pretty and young, if you have the opportunity to go deeper into showbiz, would you accept it? If those jobs bring a much higher income than being an MC but force you to trade your MC career, would you be willing?
- Right now, Khanh Vy has the opportunity to be a model, an actress, and a brand ambassador. I feel lucky to experience these interesting fields.
If I have to quit being an MC, I have to consider many aspects. Because MC is a job I love very much, I have pursued it for a long time and I also have some talent. And I am someone who finds it very difficult to give up something, so I will try to continue the job despite other factors affecting me. Even though the salary is high, I always know where my real ability lies.
However, I will try to balance it, every opportunity is precious, worthy of respect and I will not deny it, MC is also the support that helps me to be able to expand into other jobs.
