Regarding the case of a couple murdered and then burned down in Son Tay, with their excellent achievements in solving the case, Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang decided to reward three units PC45, PC54 and Son Tay Town Police (Hanoi City Police), each unit 10 million VND.

Previously, on December 26, Hanoi City Police initiated a criminal case and urgently arrested Nguyen Cong Ngoc (25 years old, residing in Xuan Khanh, Son Tay, Hanoi) as the suspect in the murder of Mr. Nguyen Van Chuc (60 years old) and Mrs. Le Thi Nho (57 years old, residing at 66/24 Chua Thong Street, Son Tay Town, Hanoi). Ngoc was arrested for murder, robbery and property destruction.

According to initial information, Nguyen Cong Ngoc was a frequent gambler and a debtor of Mrs. Le Thi Nho, with a debt of tens of millions of dong. Mrs. Nho repeatedly asked Ngoc to pay the money, but Ngoc refused. After Mrs. Nho repeatedly demanded the money, Ngoc used a hammer and knife to kill Mrs. Nho and her husband.

At the police station, Ngoc clearly confessed to the above actions and robbed three gold rings, two gold earrings, four mobile phones, a helmet, and a pair of sandals. He then set fire to the victim’s house to conceal his crime and escaped.

Currently, the Hanoi Police Department is urgently consolidating evidence and completing the initial case file. Thereby, the case file, exhibits and suspects will be transferred to the competent investigation agency.

As reported, at around 10pm on December 24, residents of Chua Thong Street (Son Tay, Hanoi) discovered a fire coming from Mr. Nguyen Van Chuc’s house. People came to put out the fire and informed the homeowner but there was no response.

Many people then used hammers to break into the house and discovered Mr. Chuc and his wife lying motionless on the floor, bleeding profusely.

Neighbors quickly reported the fire, and Son Tay Fire Police arrived to put out the fire. Mr. Chuc and his wife were confirmed dead with multiple stab wounds on their bodies.

On the morning of December 25, after receiving information about the incident and determining that this was an especially serious murder case, Colonel Duong Van Giap - Head of the Criminal Police Department, Hanoi City Police (PC45) directly went to the scene and directed units and forces to investigate the case.
