(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 20th, the provincial police leadership awarded the 288V Special Task Force for its achievement in arresting two suspects for illegally transporting narcotics, seizing 5kg of methamphetamine.

The provincial police leaders came to congratulate and present awards to the 288V Special Task Force.

Previously, after a period of surveillance, the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police, in coordination with the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security, established Special Case 288V to combat a drug trafficking ring (mainly methamphetamine) from China to Vietnam.

The two suspects are Nguyen Ngoc Van and Nguyen Phuc Tien.

At 7 PM on November 19th, two individuals, who are also brothers in this drug trafficking ring: Nguyen Ngoc Van (born in 1970) and Nguyen Phuc Tien (born in 1975), residing in Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district (Lang Son province), were transporting drugs on a passenger bus with license plate 79D - 5675 traveling on the North-South route. When they reached Mai Hac De street in Vinh City, they were discovered and arrested by the police.

The seized items

The seized evidence included 9 packages of crystal methamphetamine, weighing a total of 5 kg. Initially, the two suspects confessed to obtaining the drugs from China and transporting them to southern provinces for sale. The investigation is ongoing and being expanded.
