New details revealed about the 900 billion VND football betting case.

"Biggest gambling ring busted in Nghe An"

On the afternoon of April 4th, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held an awards ceremony for the 126B Special Task Force, led by the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police, for dismantling a 900 billion VND football betting ring. This is the largest football betting ring ever uncovered in Nghe An province.

After nearly three months of establishing case 126B, on the morning of March 29, the Economic Police Department of the Provincial Police, in coordination with the Department of Cybercrime Prevention and Control (C50 - Ministry of Public Security), arrested three suspects.

In this case, Tran The Hung (born in 1979, residing in Quang Trung Ward, Vinh City) was the ringleader. Le Hong Trung (born in 1987, residing in Ben Thuy Ward) was an important link in the network, and Ngo Minh An (born in 1970, residing in Block 14, Trung Do Ward, Vinh City) was an accomplice in the gambling.

During the on-site search of the suspects' residences, the police seized 2 laptops, 5 mobile phones, and a large amount of data related to the organization of online football betting.

Tran The Hung manages account KX573, a Master Agent account specializing in organizing betting on the bong88.com website. This football betting activity has been ongoing since 2014, involving 45 major gamblers in Vinh City with a total amount equivalent to 900 billion VND.

The gambler's account with the largest amount wagered had 6,299,311 points (approximately 250 billion VND), while the account with the biggest losses had 171,616 points (approximately 7 billion VND). Most gamblers participating in this system lost money.

At the ceremony, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - praised and congratulated the outstanding achievement of Special Task Force 126B. This achievement demonstrates the resourcefulness, creativity, intelligence, and determination of the forces involved in the fight against crime.

The comrade requested that the Provincial Police Investigation Agency closely coordinate with the professional departments of the Ministry of Public Security to continue expanding the investigation and strictly prosecute the suspects in accordance with the law.
