When a beauty queen competes... Miss
Even after winning the Miss title, many beauty queens continue to compete in other beauty pageants, leaving audiences curious and puzzled.
Throughout the history of Vietnamese beauty pageants, some winners who have won the top prize in one competition have gone on to compete in other competitions.
Miss Ky Duyen: Re-competing after 10 years since winning the crown.
Recently, Miss Ky Duyen confirmed her participation in the Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 competition, causing a stir among many people.
In 2014, this beauty queen was crowned the winner of Miss Vietnam. This is a prestigious and highly regarded beauty pageant, ranking among the top beauty competitions in Vietnam.
It's rare for a beauty queen who has already won the Miss Vietnam crown to continue competing in another pageant. Furthermore, 10 years have passed since Ky Duyen's coronation, and she has already served as a judge and mentor in several domestic beauty contests, so her decision to temporarily set aside her Miss Vietnam title to compete again has puzzled many.

Sharing her thoughts on the matter, the beauty queen from Nam Dinh said that she participated in the competition hoping to have the opportunity to compete on the international beauty pageant stage."Exactly 10 years later, with a childhood dream still unfulfilled, Duyen has decided to return with the goal of winning the ticket to represent Vietnam on the international stage."
For Miss Universe Vietnam 2024, Ky Duyen has many advantages compared to other contestants. However, her relatively advanced age and her familiarity from previous programs and competitions are also "downsides" on her journey to achieving her dream.
Nevertheless, Ky Duyen remains highly determined to achieve her dreams:"We don't know what the outcome and results will be this time, but Duyen will definitely be serious, focused, and prepare as best as she can, just as she has always been decisive in her decisions."

Miss Swan: The beauty queen who wins every competition she enters.
The history of the Miss Vietnam pageant has a rare precedent: a beauty queen who won the prestigious crown twice – Nguyen Thien Nga.
Specifically, in 1996, in the Miss Tien Phong National Pageant, Nguyen Thien Nga excellently won the top prize.
At that time, the second-year student from the Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Trade made a strong impression with her intelligent answer about the Vietnamese ao dai (traditional dress):"The ao dai is truly a garment that suits Vietnamese women, making them more graceful and lovely. And most importantly, every time you catch a glimpse of an ao dai fluttering in the streets, you feel the soul of your homeland there."

In 1999, the Miss Vietnam pageant was held to find a national representative to compete in the Miss Friendship World pageant, and Nguyen Thien Nga registered to participate again. In this competition, she once again won the top title.
In fact, the Tien Phong Newspaper National Beauty Pageant was the predecessor of the Miss Vietnam pageant. Therefore, it can be said that Nguyen Thien Nga is a rare beauty queen who has won the Miss Vietnam title twice.
After becoming Miss Vietnam 1999, Nguyen Thien Nga represented the country at the Miss Friendship of ASEAN 1999 pageant and won the title of 2nd Runner-up. In all three competitions, Nguyen Thien Nga reached the top ranks and brought home prestigious titles, proving that she is truly a formidable competitor in beauty pageants.
However, after the Miss Southeast Asia Friendship pageant in 1999, Nguyen Thien Nga went to the United States to study for a master's degree in business administration and gradually withdrew from all activities in the entertainment industry. Currently, the beauty queen from the 70s generation rarely appears at entertainment events, but she remains a role model admired by many Misses and Runners-up.

Miss Ngoc Chau: Missed the international competition but returned to win the national crown.
Ngoc Chau was born in 1994 and became known to the public after winning the Vietnam's Next Top Model 2016 competition.
Not content with this achievement, the beauty queen tried her luck at the Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018 competition. During the Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018 final night, held at the Walker Hill Theater in Seoul, South Korea, Ngoc Chau received enthusiastic support with her impressive answer in the Q&A segment.
Specifically, when asked to choose between intelligence, charm, and compassion, she replied:"In modern life, people are increasingly forgetting the inherent goodness of human nature, 'human nature is good at first.' I believe that compassion, tolerance, and forgiveness will bring people closer together and make life better."

This answer earned Ngoc Chau the Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018 crown, making her Vietnam's representative at the Miss Supranational 2019 pageant. However, in this international beauty contest, Ngoc Chau only made it to the top 10.
Despite having participated in international competitions, Ngoc Chau still wanted to continue proving herself in beauty pageants. In 2022, the beauty queen caused a sensation when she won the top title at Miss Universe Vietnam and went on to represent the country at Miss Universe 2022. However, it seems Ngoc Chau wasn't really lucky in international competitions, as she failed to make it into the top 16 at this pageant.
However, Ngoc Chau remains a rather special case in the Vietnamese beauty pageant scene, possessing two national crowns: Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018 and Miss Universe Vietnam 2022.

Nam Em: Beauty queen "upgraded" to Miss Vietnam, diligently competing in beauty pageants.
Nam Em is also quite familiar with beauty pageants in Vietnam. In 2015, she won the top prize in the Miss Mekong Delta pageant.
At the time of her coronation, Nam Em was only 19 years old. She made a strong impression with her beautiful figure, outstanding height of 1.73m, and gentle, distinctly East Asian beauty.
Having won the top title at the Miss Mekong Delta pageant, Nam Em continued to participate in the Miss Universe Vietnam 2015 competition hoping to achieve a higher ranking and become Miss Universe. However, in this competition, she only made it to the top 10.

Although she didn't win the top title at Miss Universe Vietnam 2015, in 2016, this beauty queen still represented Vietnam at the international beauty pageant Miss Earth held in the Philippines.
This was the time when Nam Em was most highly praised for both her appearance and stage presence, ultimately making it to the top 8.
In 2022, the organizing committee of the Miss Mekong Delta pageant renewed the title of the competition to: Miss Mekong Delta, and at the same time, "upgraded" Nam Em's title from Miss to Miss to match the position of her predecessor.

Thus, after more than 7 years since her coronation, Nam Em officially became Miss Mekong Delta and is also the first beauty queen who, despite holding a title, continued to compete in another beauty pageant by deciding at the last minute to become a contestant in Miss World Vietnam 2022.
Despite having many media advantages right from the start of the competition, Nam Em ultimately only made it to the top 10.
