When should you turn on your fog lights in the city?
Fog lights are fitted below or on either side of each front and rear bumper to help drivers see obstacles more clearly and react in time.
What are fog lights?
Fog lights are part of a car's lighting system, and their structure and installation location are completely different from headlights and taillights. Fog lights are usually positioned lower down on the front or rear bumper of the vehicle.
When driving in foggy or drizzly conditions, fog lights help drivers see the road clearly from the driver's seat or along the lane markings on either side. In addition, drivers can easily see the fog lights behind the vehicle in front, allowing them to maintain an appropriate distance while driving. Fog lights operate independently of headlights in cases where the headlights do not provide adequate visibility.

When should you turn on your fog lights?
Fog lights are designed to help drivers see better in foggy conditions when visibility is limited. Therefore, they should be turned on when the weather is foggy. Rear fog lights help vehicles behind to identify you and avoid collisions in foggy conditions.
Some countries around the world have signs requiring drivers to use fog lights on certain roads to avoid collisions. Vietnam currently does not have such signs, but the Traffic Police Department has issued a recommendation for drivers to turn on fog lights when traveling on mountainous roads.
When driving in the city, drivers can turn on their fog lights in the evening or early morning to avoid collisions. Fog lights are very useful, helping oncoming vehicles spot the vehicle approaching from the opposite direction sooner.
Note that fog lights should not be switched on at the same time as the high beam headlights; instead, they should be used in combination with the low beam headlights. The reason is that switching on high beam headlights in fog will both dazzle oncoming vehicles and render the fog lights ineffective.
Additionally, fog lights are permitted in certain situations, such as when driving through dusty roads due to nighttime construction or when there is thick, fine dust. However, fog lights should be turned off when driving through such areas as they can cause glare for oncoming vehicles.
