The enthusiasm for launching irrigation projects in Nghe An
Currently, localities in Nghe An province are actively implementing a campaign involving all citizens in building roads and irrigation systems to ensure water supply for the upcoming spring crop.
Visiting Nam Linh commune, Nam Dan district these days, one can see farmers and irrigation enterprise workers enthusiastically launching irrigation projects across the fields.
Mr. Le Van Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Linh commune, said: Nam Linh commune has over 370 hectares of rice fields. After the recent floods, many irrigation canals have been silted up and damaged, affecting the production of the people. Therefore, in this irrigation campaign, the commune has mobilized maximum resources to effectively carry out the work of improving the irrigation system in the fields.
Taking advantage of favorable weather conditions, from October 12th to the present, Nam Linh commune has mobilized over 2,000 people to participate in irrigation work. The entire commune has dredged more than 8 km of canals, mainly main canals such as the Chin Mau canal, Nuong Chan canal, and Chan Nuoi canal; and cleared over 5,000 m of overgrown bushes along the banks.2...excavating and repairing the embankment system in the fields and plots... Currently, the commune is surveying to upgrade damaged and deteriorated water intake culverts.
The Nam Dan Irrigation Enterprise also mobilized all its staff and workers to focus on dredging the area around Pumping Station No. 5 and the main canal section from K1 +800 to K2 +300, with a dredging volume of over 150 m³.3Mud and soil cleared over 5,000m²2grass, bushes…
Mr. Bui Van Hao, Chairman and Director of Nam Irrigation One-Member Limited Liability Company, said: The unit is responsible for the districts of Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, and Nghi Loc. From October 16th to the present, the entire unit has mobilized 352 workers and dredged nearly 800 meters.3Mud and soil were removed from canal systems, and bushes and weeds were cleared from over 16,000 square meters.2From now until the end of the irrigation campaign, the unit, in coordination with local people and schools, will carry out dredging to ensure the smooth flow of the entire irrigation canal system, especially removing water hyacinth from drainage canals, and maintaining and repairing irrigation works.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh The, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Nam Dan District, said: Nam Dan District has launched a campaign for all citizens to participate in irrigation and environmental sanitation work from October 12 to December 31, 2024. The focus will be on dredging and clearing main canals; maintaining and repairing pumping stations and other structures damaged after the floods.
To date, the entire district has mobilized more than 15,000 people to participate in dredging and excavation work, covering a volume of nearly 3,000 cubic meters.3Clearing vegetation and cleaning canals over 15,000m.3, building embankments for fields and plots totaling 4,700m3.
In response to the National Day for Irrigation Work, starting on October 13th, Hung Nguyen district organized a ceremony to launch a campaign for all citizens to participate in irrigation work. Immediately after the launch ceremony, Hung Tay commune mobilized over 400 laborers to focus on building rural roads, internal field roads, irrigation canals, dredging and clearing waterways, and cleaning and sanitizing the rural environment.
According to the plan, from November 15th to December 31st, 2024, Hung Tay commune will continue to focus on dredging canals, mowing grass on both banks, and clearing internal field roads bordering the main irrigation canals to serve agricultural production.
Mr. Hoang Duc An, Head of the Agriculture and Rural Development Department of Hung Nguyen District, added: Hung Nguyen District is frequently affected by natural disasters, especially floods and waterlogging. Therefore, irrigation work is always given special attention by the locality. From October 12th to December 31st, 2024, the entire Hung Nguyen District will launch an irrigation campaign.
Accordingly, Hung Nguyen district is focusing on repairing damage to irrigation works caused by the recent floods. This includes removing water hyacinths, cutting grass, dredging irrigation and drainage canals in the fields, clearing main drainage channels, and dredging and clearing the main channels, pump station suction basins, water intake structures, and domestic water supply facilities.
Repair and maintain embankments, demarcate areas for aquaculture. Maintain machinery and electrical equipment of irrigation and drainage pumping stations, ensuring 100% of machinery and facilities are ready for operation in production and daily life. Continue implementing the program to reinforce irrigation canals, especially in the fields, in conjunction with the criteria of the new rural development program.
To date, approximately 20,000 people in the district have participated in irrigation work, including agencies, units, and schools located in the area.
During this year's campaign to improve transportation and irrigation infrastructure, Nghe An province is focusing on repairing damaged headworks, irrigation and clean water systems, river and sea dikes, and embankments. They are also organizing inland irrigation projects, repairing and dredging irrigation canals, building field and plot embankments, and repairing rural roads. The program to reinforce irrigation canals, especially inland canals, will continue.
During the irrigation campaign from October 1st to December 31st, 2024, Nghe An province aims to complete 993,980 man-days of work and reinforce 73,933 meters of canals and ditches; and dredge 440,535 meters of drainage canals and inland drainage channels.3The area of land used for embankment and field boundaries is 493,689 m².3, filling with graded soil and pouring concrete for 223,504m of internal field roads.3; clearing vegetation, mowing grass, removing weeds, scooping up water hyacinths... 4,313,901 m2...
