During the morning trading session on November 3rd, HPG shares attracted attention, rising by approximately 3.19% and leading the market in net buying volume by foreign investors.

Opening the trading session on the morning of November 3rd, a cautious sentiment prevailed in the market, leading to significant divergence on the electronic trading board. Simultaneously, the market showed signs of slowing capital flows and sluggish liquidity.

After more than an hour of trading, the VN-Index continuously fluctuated and tugged around the 1,700-point mark, showing an effort to maintain this important psychological level.

In the large-cap stock group, most stocks fluctuated within a narrow range. Meanwhile, LPB, HPG, and STB recorded positive performance, increasing by about 2-3%. Notably, HPG not only improved in share price but also led the entire market in net buying volume by foreign investors.

Among small and medium-sized stocks, KOS continued to attract attention, rising to its maximum limit of 4,640 VND per share. Trading volume reached over 1.8 million units, while buy orders at the ceiling price exceeded 5.1 million units, indicating continued strong demand.

Steel stocks also performed well, with NKG and HSG both rising around 4%. Conversely, selling pressure increased on some stocks such as PNJ, KSB, HII, and CRE, causing their share prices to fall by 3% to over 6%.

The banking sector showed mixed performance, with VCB (-0.56%), MBB (-0.53%), HDB (-0.23%), VPB (+1.16%), TCB (+0.7%), and STB (+2.3%). Similarly, the real estate sector saw mixed results, with VIC (-1.57%), VHM (+1.77%), VRE (+1.74%), KDH (-1.5%), and PDR (-0.9%).

The stock market was in the green, with SSI (+1.59%), VCI (+2.71%), VIX (+1.69%), VND (+1.15%), and HCM (+1.73%). Similarly, the steel sector saw gains, with HPG (+3.19%), NKG (+3.85%), MSR (+2.38%), and HHP (+1.14%).

At the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 0.85 points to 1,709.87 points (-0.05%) compared to the previous session. Similarly, the HNX-Index decreased by 250.4 points (-0.06%), equivalent to 0.15 points. Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index increased by 122.26 points (+0.25%), equivalent to 0.31 points.

Market liquidity reached VND 5,639.31 billion, with 263 million shares traded. Across the sector, 162 stocks rose, 119 fell, and 59 dropped to their reference price.

According to experts at Tien Phong Securities Company, selling pressure is widespread, heaviest in large-cap stocks, with banking and technology becoming the main drag.

The significantly higher-than-average liquidity indicates that this is an active selling phase rather than a correction due to a lack of demand, while continued net selling by foreign investors further fuels cautious sentiment.

The flow of money is only finding refuge in a few stocks, lacking the strength to lead the market. The fact that the index has broken through moving averages and momentum is weakening suggests that downside risk remains in the short term.

Investors should avoid buying at the bottom prematurely, prioritize portfolio management, and wait for signals of equilibrium at support levels near 1,677 or 1,651 points.
