The highlights

The feeling of industrial spirit in Hoang Mai people that we have started at Vinatex Hoang Mai Garment Factory. Here, after the ribbon cutting day (September 3, 2016), there were about 200 workers working.

They are young men and women in the probationary period with a salary of 2,000,000 VND/month. However, their faces show seriousness, diligence and satisfaction in their work.

The Vinatex – Hoang Mai Garment Factory Project and its supporting works invested by the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) were approved by the Provincial People's Committee in 2014 with a total investment of more than 127 billion VND, built on a land area of ​​31,6000m2, in Quynh Vinh commune.

The first phase of the factory is designed with a capacity of 10.58 million products/year with a complete line of modern, synchronized Japanese sewing equipment. According to Ms. Luu Thi Bich Hang - Manager of Vinatex Hoang Mai Garment Joint Stock Company, most of the workers are from Hoang Mai town. When recruited, most of them do not have knowledge or experience in the profession, so the factory has to organize training.

However, in just a short time, the workers got used to the work and the industrial production environment, so the product quality was good. The factory specializes in manufacturing high-quality knitted underwear products with input materials supplied by domestic and foreign units for export to the Japanese market through Vinatex's trading partner, Itochu Corporation (Japan).

After more than 3 months of operation, Japanese partners regularly come to check and evaluate the environment and working conditions; and now the company has exported its first order.

According to Ms. Hang, during the probationary period, the average income of workers is 3.7 - 4 million VND/person. The company also plans that when the project is completed and put into stable operation, it will create jobs for 780 workers, with priority given to workers who are local children.

Authorities at all levels are very interested in creating favorable conditions for site clearance, handling related procedures, actively coordinating in recruitment, educating workers' awareness... Therefore, the company has had favorable conditions in project investment activities to soon start production and business...".

In Dong Hoi Industrial Park, after one year of investment, Hoa Sen Nghe An Steel Factory Project has also put into operation line 1. Hoa Sen Nghe An Steel Factory Project has a total investment capital of 5,000 billion VND.

According to Mr. Huynh Phan Hieu - Deputy Director of Hoa Sen Steel Factory, although only phase 1 has been completed, it has attracted about 750 workers; of which about 30% are local people from Hoang Mai, about 60% are local people from other localities in Nghe An, the remaining 10% are people from other provinces and cities across the country. Mr. Hieu said: Galvanized steel products, cold-rolled steel, color-coated steel and galvanized pipes produced by the factory have been present on the market with an output of about 25 thousand tons. Here, when the project is completed, on average, about 1 million product panels will be brought to the market each month...

A new project that really contributes to creating a highlight for Hoang Mai urban area that needs to be mentioned is Muong Thanh Grand Hoang Mai Hotel. With a prime location on National Highway 1A, adjacent to the roads connecting to the town's administrative area and Hoang Mai Industrial Park 1; Muong Thanh Grand Hoang Mai Hotel is built according to international 4-star standards, 15 floors high with 161 rooms, meeting the accommodation needs of domestic and foreign tourists.

According to research, after the inauguration ceremony on September 2, 2016, this hotel has attracted a large number of guests to stay. Even experts from Nghi Son Industrial Park (Thanh Hoa) have booked up to 80 rooms. Therefore, Muong Thanh Gran Hoang Mai Hotel has created stable jobs for 200 workers...

According to the records of the Hoang Mai Town government, after a number of newly invested factories went into production such as: the galvanized steel production line of Hoa Sen Steel Factory, the sewing line of Vinatex Garment Factory, the fresh concrete production workshop in Quynh Xuan... together with existing production facilities, it has contributed to quickly increasing the production value of the industrial and handicraft industry to an estimated 3,996 billion VND, equal to 100.78% of the plan, an increase of 33.18% over the same period.

In addition, the service - trade sector also grew in both scale and value, reaching 1,029 billion VND, equal to 102.21% of the plan, up 17.2% compared to 2015; in which revenue from tourism is estimated at over 60 billion VND, up 18%...

Continue to unleash potential

Hoang Mai is identified by the province as a land of great potential. Because this is an urban area with a length of 18km adjacent to the sea, located at the northern gateway of the province, it is very convenient for trading activities with major economic centers of the region and the whole country. The traffic system with economic axes, in addition to National Highway 1A has been expanded, upgraded and put into use, there is also the North - South railway, Provincial Road 537 connecting National Highway 1A to Thai Hoa Town - Nghia Dan - Dong Hoi Industrial Park has been completed and put into use.

Hoang Mai has diverse mineral resources, many of which have large reserves and favorable exploitation conditions. Notable among them are raw materials for the production of construction materials such as limestone (Quynh Thien, Quynh Di, Quynh Vinh, Quynh Lap, Quynh Loc), cement clay (Quynh Trang, Quynh Vinh), phosphorite ore (Quynh Lap); lead, zinc (Quynh Trang); paving stones (Quynh Vinh, Quynh Trang)... When talking about Hoang Mai, it is impossible not to mention the abundance of marine resources.

With a coastline of 18km, Hoang Mai has a Con estuary where valuable phytoplankton species are concentrated; it is a favorable location to access the large fishing grounds of the Gulf of Tonkin. Along with that, the coastal vegetation typical of the mangrove ecosystem not only contributes to the diversity of forest resources but also has economic, scientific, tourism and environmental value...

Because of its rich potential, and realizing that if investment calling is done well, the existing potential will be promoted, so the direction of Hoang Mai town is to accelerate the construction progress of transitional infrastructure projects in 2016 such as inner-city roads, bridges over Hoang Mai river, roads connecting National Highway 1A from Quynh Xuan to Quynh Lien, resettlement areas of Dong Hoi Industrial Park, Quynh Vinh waste treatment site, infrastructure serving site clearance for key projects in the town...

On the other hand, continue to do a good job of attracting investment, striving to gradually fill up the area in Hoang Mai and Dong Hoi Industrial Parks; at the same time, attract investment projects in the fields of trade and services in the Quynh Phuong - Quynh Lien Sea tourist area - Hoang Mai River - Vuc Mau Lake; mobilize to attract Vincom's Trade Center project; build industrial parks of Korean investors; attract investment in building commune and inter-commune markets, supermarkets, stores, business shops...

In particular, it is determined that besides industrial projects, service and tourism projects will become important economic sectors to help Hoang Mai develop quickly, effectively and sustainably.
