Eleven defendants have been indicted in connection with the greening project.
The Security Investigation Agency has initiated criminal proceedings against 11 defendants in connection with the criminal case of "Violation of bidding regulations causing serious consequences" and "Illegal trading of invoices and documents for collecting and remitting state budget funds".
On November 17th, the Quang Binh Provincial Police announced that over the past two days, the Provincial Police's Security Investigation Agency had initiated legal proceedings against 11 defendants involved in tree planting projects in the area.
Of these, 9 defendants were charged and detained on charges of "Violations of bidding regulations have serious consequences.The group includes: Tran Van Su (born 1972, Head of the Public Works Management Board of Tuyen Hoa District), Nguyen Huu Kien (born 1971, Head of the Public Works Management Board of Bo Trach District), Duong Thanh Hai (born 1981, Head of the Public Works Management Board of Quang Trach District), Pham Cong Giap (born 1971, Head of the Public Works Management Board of Ba Don Town), Tran Van Tuyen (born 1964, Head of the Public Works Management Board of Quang Ninh District); Nguyen Viet Son (born 1972, Head of the Public Works Management Board of Le Thuy District), Nguyen Van Sy (born 1979, Director of the Investment, Construction and Land Development Project Management Board of Dong Hoi City), Nguyen Thai Son (born 1975, Head of the Land Fund Management and Compensation and Resettlement Department of the Investment, Construction and Land Development Project Management Board of Dong Hoi City), and Truong Cong Nguyen (born 1982, staff member of the Project Management Board). Two defendants have been charged and placed under house arrest for the crime of "Violating regulations on bidding causing serious consequences," including: Nguyen Hoai Nam (born in 1976, Director of the Investment, Construction and Land Development Project Management Board of Bo Trach district), and Dinh Xuan Tien (born in 1964, Director of the Public Works Management Board of Minh Hoa district).
The case is currently under extensive investigation.
