Fourteen defendants have been indicted in a case involving the Food Safety Department under the Ministry of Health.
The Office of the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security is conducting an investigation into the criminal case of "Giving and Receiving Bribes" as stipulated in Articles 364 and 354 of the Penal Code, which occurred at the Food Safety Department under the Ministry of Health and related companies in Hanoi and other provinces and cities nationwide.
During the expanded investigation, based on the documents and evidence collected, on November 21, the Office of the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security issued a decision to prosecute 14 defendants, including decisions to prosecute, arrest warrants for temporary detention, and orders prohibiting them from leaving their place of residence for 8 defendants, for the crime of "Receiving bribes" as stipulated in Article 354 of the Penal Code.
Specifically, the following individuals have been charged and detained: Do Huu Tuan, former Deputy Director of the Food Safety Department; Le Manh Hung, Head of the Food Product Management Division; and Vu Huy Long, Specialist in the Food Product Management Division.
The following individuals have been charged and placed under house arrest: Nguyen Thi Thu Quynh, Specialist in the Food Poisoning Surveillance and Information and Communication Department; Nguyen Thi Yen, Deputy Chief of Office, Food Safety Department; Pham Hoang Giang, Specialist in the Food Product Management Department; Tran Thi Hong Nhung, Specialist in the Food Product Management Department; and Tran Thi Tuyet, Specialist in the Standards and Testing Management Department.
On the same day, the Supreme People's Procuratorate issued decisions approving the aforementioned procedural decisions, and the Office of the Investigation Agency of the Ministry of Public Security carried out procedural measures in strict compliance with the law.
Currently, the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Public Security is conducting an expanded investigation into the case, clarifying all violations committed by individuals involved in order to strictly handle them according to the law.
