Three officials have been prosecuted in connection with the landslide that killed two people.

On October 17th, the People's Procuracy of Da Lat City approved the decision to prosecute Mr. Vo Khanh Toan (39 years old, a civil servant in land administration, construction, urban planning, and environment of the People's Committee of Ward 10), along with Mr. Mac Phuong Hai (39 years old) and Mr. Tran Quoc Ha (27 years old), both officials of the Urban Order Management Team of Da Lat City (under the Urban Management Department of Da Lat City), for the following offenses:Irresponsibility resulting in serious consequencesThree people were released on bail.

The indictment of the three officials aims to expand the investigation into the case related to the landslide at a construction site on Hoang Hoa Tham Street, Ward 10, which killed two people in the early morning of June 29.

Accordingly, on April 17th, these three individuals, in their roles, inspected the construction of retaining walls and earthworks on plots of land in Ward 10. However, they failed to compare the actual construction work with the approved design drawings and issued construction permits.

At the time of inspection, the investor and contractor were constructing the foundation and concrete embankment in the area under the power line safety corridor. However, these three officials still allowed construction to continue, leading to a landslide in the early morning of September 26th, resulting in 2 deaths and 5 injuries.

Regarding this case, five people have been charged and are under investigation. Previously, in July, the police charged and detained Mr. Nguyen Uy Vu (39 years old, Director of Le Nguyen Lam Dong Construction Joint Stock Company, the unit that designed and constructed the collapsed embankment causing the landslide) and Duong Viet Phong (41 years old, a construction supervisor at a private company) to investigate their violations of construction regulations resulting in serious consequences.
